More importantly, there are those of us on the west coast, that really HATE the spoiler. Thanks a lot, grabbingsand.

I think the Sideshow Bob haircut was the downfall of Justin.

I thought an idol was someone you admired, or at least had heard of.

Thanks for posting this when there is a time delay in some places. Not like I didn't know this was going to be the outcome, but seriously, when posting about tv shows, remember there are time delays in some places.

Okay. Somebody find Matt and kill it. Mea Culpa.

just figured... you know... live show and all.

I tuned in to American Idol expecting to have a good laugh at the expense of the cheesiness factor of it all, but MAN, this stuff is addictive. After watching two shows I was ready to get "KELLY ALL THE WAY" tattooed on my forehead. And tonight, well. Let's just say it was me, Kelly and a box of Kleenex.
Whatever formula this is, it works.

Hey I live on the West Coast and I'd like to thank you for posting that. Now I don't have to watch the show, which is terrible. It's one of those trainwreck fascinations.

Anybody catch Mo Rocca from the Daily Show being interviewed on CNN Crossfire today about American Idol? Hilarious I tell you.

What's with these contestants? Were they grown in vats or something? Justin, Greg Brady just called and he wants his hair back.

America can have its idols, I'm sticking to the Golden Calf, thank you very much.

Maybe Justin would have had a better chance if he performed his duet with Selma (200K .wav).

Mo Rocca was also on yesterday's TalkBack Live, too, calling American Idol "the revitalization of American democracy" and deadpanning that Tamyra's mangling of a Patti LaBelle song was "her Chappaquiddick."

In one shot I thought Will Young, the UK idol that sang with Kelly looked like Jim Carey in Ace Ventura

grabbingsand, find him yourself, fuckwit.

Just two weeks ago someone ruined the show for westcoasters. Come on, people...I have to admit I dug the show too, but let's show some restraint?

I was actually in the middle of watching this, thanks. Thanks a lot.

I think the Sideshow Bob haircut was the downfall of Justin.

He also lost because he can't hold a tune and because the way he stands onstage makes him look like he's taking a dump in the forest. Trying to make sure his bum doesn't get poison ivy. Man he was hideous to listen to and to look at throughout this series. I just don't understand why anyone thought he was sexy, he looks so sterile and manufactured!

Justin will be back! Phwoar! He is sexy.

This is one of the few things I love about living in Japan: not having to witness these spectacles.

Okay. I have asked Matt to pull this thread, but we all know that there are no actual timezones out here in the happy land of virtually instantaneous information and news-as-it-happens. Television is time-delayed, the Internet is not.

So again, mea culpa. No more need to call me names across the playground.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you hadn't posted it, some other idiot would have.

Some of you people actually want another Britney? Please explain. No, actually don't because I wouldn't be able to understand it anyway.
posted by spungfoo at 9:11 PM on September 4, 2002

I thought this would be about Kelly Osbourne. I'm so disappointed.
posted by nyxxxx at 9:12 PM on September 4, 2002

Aw, gee, you shouldn't have! I don't think I would say idol, although my mom assures me that I'm very popular.... I won't let this surprising and unexpected new fame go to my head. Wow, this is so .... I.... um.... oops.

nevermind.
posted by Kellydamnit at 9:19 PM on September 4, 2002

Argh... 45 minutes to go and now I even know the results. But my wife refuses to let me tell her. Worse than water torture. A trainwreck indeed. And I'll go on the record as saying I don't want another Britney. Even if she does do a lesbo scene with Jenna. Or Kelly.

kelly, kelly, kelly

At first, I thought Kelly.
Then, I thought Kelly.
Finally, I thought Kelly.

Alas, I was wrong on all three counts.

Come on! I think you whiners should pick an addiction and stick with it. If you can't stay off Meta for a few hours, you've got deeper issues than our fine east coast friends posting the results of a TV show.
