Are you a night person? Like blood? Member of the European nobility? If so, you might be interested in becoming the next count Dracula. Yes, it seems that after vampire cloning didn't pan out, the Count decided to pick an heir. Seem weird? It's okay, there's precedent.

Why does this sound like the premise for some really bad screwball comedy:

[Movie Voice]
"In a world ruled by fear, one man must find the courage to carry on his bloodline, and find love along the way..."

i sincerely hope he finds an heir. Adoption is good, and the world needs Draculas.

Surprised they didn't think about surrogate pregnancy.

Couldn't he just adopt a Romanian orphan? I hear there are plenty.

Now, I'm not criticizing the post, 'cuz I like it and it seems new here. But this came up in the news a few years ago (I think I heard it on NPR.) Can it really be that hard to find an heir to the family Dracula? Or is there a tough criteria to fill? Is the count-hood so heavily encumbered with debt that no one wants it?

I mean, geez! -- everyone I know says, Cool! I'd love to be the next Nefarious Count D!

I think he wants his heir to be someone of noble ...uh, blood, and there aren't very many of those around any more.

He could have just found a punk contessa like his German counterpart.

Well, he did ask me but I had to turn it down. I dunno...the white pancake makeup, the black capes with the big high collars -- the goth look is so out, you know?

(heee!)
