Snoop Dog to appear in Muppets Movie

Snoop Dog to appear in Muppets Movie "The two-hour film, which is currently in production in Vancouver, will feature cameo appearances by Oscar winners Sir Michael Caine and William H. Macy, Snoop Dogg, Carson Daly, Jon Stewart, Kelly Ripa and Rachel Hunter, among others."
Unless The Muppets has suddenly become a program for adults, not kids, what a horrible idea. Would Jim Henson approve of this? I know, let's put Eminem on the teletubbies show!

This could explain him "going clean," I suppose, though it must be really hard for him to stay away from the Vancouver weed.

Ummm . . . I have no more problem with him being on a Muppet show/movie than I would have with Alice Cooper. And I'm pretty sure I saw that one.

Am I misremembering, or was Gene Simmons a guest on the old Muppet Show? I just looked over the entire guest list and couldn't find him.

Thanks, hackly: Alice Cooper.

Richard Pryor was in the original Muppet Movie. How is this different?

Do you think he'll play a character grasping at a "9" in his pants, peddling ounces, speaking profanely?

I know, let's put Eminem on the teletubbies show!

Please.

Unless The Muppets has suddenly become a program for adults, not kids...

Did you used to watch the original Muppet movies and tv shows? There were things in them that would fly over the top of any kid's head.

Did you have a problem with foul-mouthed comedian Richard Pryor appearing in The Muppet Movie?

d'oh, on Preview i see that rocketman beat me!

Would Jim Henson approve of this?

This is irrelevant. Jim Henson is dead, and the Muppets are a corporation.

Linda Lovelace and Traci Lords should sign up too. I mean, they're clean now, right?

I wonder if this will garner protests like when newly-out Melissa Etheridge modified one of her songs ("Like the Way I Do") as an ode to the letter U on Sesame Street?

I personally find that smug shithead mook Carson Daly WAAAY more offensive than Snoop Dogg.

Ummm Jim Henson was guy who spent the 70's dreaming up talking frogs, long nosed weirdos, and a guy in a ruffled shirt throwing boomerang fish. I'd imagine he'd think Snoop was a little tame.

Does this make Statler and Waldorf player haters?
Anyway, with Snoop Dogg declaring of Morrissey 'He fresh' just the other day, i think we can safely say the threat of big suge knight's henchmen has made his brain go odd.

Tacodog, this is the Muppets, not the moral majority. Next I suppose you'll tell me that you have an issue with an HIV-positive muppet on the South African version of Sesame Street?

Had it occurred to you that Snoop Dogg might be playing a character in his hip-hop career that is supposed to make him as much money as possible? Could he possibly be different than the person he portrays to try to sell records?

Do you show everyone every facet of your personality at all times?

Maybe we should stop letting people who drink on to children's shows. After all, they're engaging in private behavior that children should not engage in.

Better yet, why don't we just assume that most kids under the age of 13 haven't heard a Snoop Dogg record and might assume that he's just a smooth-talking father to a couple of children like themselves?

I sincerely doubt he's going to be grabbing his unit and waving a pistol around while smoking a blunt.

'Shizzle my nizzle, Kermit-dizzle! Gizzle some of the strizzle-dizzle, Miss Piggy-diggy."

This reminds me of the time I saw Cypress Hill perform "Insane in the Brain" live for a bunch of kids on Nickelodeon. While unexpected, as far as I could tell nobody got beat down or capped, no drugs were visible, and any "doobious" lyrics were avoided. I don't know about the parents, but the kids sure loved it!

I know someone who's working on this movie. Supposedly, Mr. Dogg was very well-prepared, professional and easy to work with.

liquidgnome: If Snoop has cleaned up his act, I say good for him, let him appear on the Muppets. The kids that don't know his past will see him as a clean rapper guy. The kids and adults that do are (or should be) smart enough to know he's on the straight and narrow. Same goes for Traci Lords, if her current body of work (heh) is no longer of the 'blue' variety.

Too bad about Ms. Lovelace though, didn't know she died or I wouldn't have written the above snarky comment. I blame myself for not adding jk!!!1 or :) tags.

From a Wall St. Journal story earlier this week: Jim Henson Co., meanwhile, doesn't see Mr. Broadus in any way as a problem. The company is looking to the rapper to help make its Muppets seem hip again in a 2002 Christmas special, "A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie," to run on NBC.

Next to the chair got me goin' like General Electric
EEEN!
The lights are blinking
I'm thinking
It's all over when I go out drinking
Oh, makin' my mind slow,
That's why I don't fuck wit da big four-o
Bro', I gotta maintain
`Cause a nigga like me is goin' insane

Do my shit undercover
Now it's time for the blubba
Blabba
To watch that belly get fatter
Fat boy on a diet
Don't try it
I'll jack your ass like a looter in a riot
Much too fat like a sumo slammin' that ass
Leavin' your face in the grass

Cops
Come and try to snatch my crops
These pigs wanna blow my house down

Gotta give props to B-Real if he was able to avoid dubious lyrics in the song. :-)

Actually, The Muppet Show was a variety show, meant for children and adults. It isn't the celebrity, it's what they do. I remember watching Raquel Welch dance in a very scant dress and make passes at Fozzie when I was a child. That was inappropriate, but I don't think it was damaging. My father should have probably exercised a but more discretion about letting me watch it. I really didn't know who most of the guest stars were until years later. I guess I'm saying don't condemn it until you've seen it.

BTW, here's the complete list of guests from the original series.

Okay, reading over the list of guests on the sorely missed Muppet Show, I can say that I would love to see Sly Stallone wallowing with muppets. Singing too! What a howl!

That, and Paul Simon singing, "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover." What was the sketch for that? I can't imagine, but I'm sure it was good.

I miss that show.

Are people really this uptight these days? When I was a kid in the 70's and 80's we watched whatever the hell we wanted.

So what if Snoop made a porno! We watched Hogans Heroes re-runs, and we all know about Bob Cranes (Hogan) exploits (he made s&m films in his basement.) Hell, I saw "A Clockwork Orange" when I was 10 and, other than dropping out of college and a brief addiction to heroin, I turned out fine.

But seriously folks, if George Carlin can host "Shiny Time Station", (or whatever the fuck it was called) then Snoop should be more than welcome on the "Muppet Show".
it's up to parents to distinguish between "Gin and Juice" and Kool Aid.

Since when was The Muppet Show for kids anyway? Kids certainly enjoy it and most of the humour targeted at adults goes way over their heads (as with The Simpsons et al). If only there were more shows that were aimed at both audiences, there would be a wider choice of entertainment that parents could share with their children and actually enjoy.

Actually, the most disturbing thing in Muppetdom is probably Kermit and Miss Piggy eating Grand Slam breakfasts at Denny's, the ones with ham, bacon and sausage. A pig, eating ham, bacon and sausage, and she orders three of them. Cannibal muppets. That's just wrong.

Lyrics to a song from the FIRST Muppet Movie:

Dr. Teeth:
Ohhh yeah! Whooo!
Everybody's lover, everybody's brother, I wanna be your lifetime friend.
Crazy as a rocket, nothin in my pocket, I keep it at the rainbow's end.
I never think of money, I think of milk 'n honey, grinnin like a cheshire cat.
I focus on the pleasure, somethin' I can treasure, can you picture that?
Can you picture that?

Dr. Teeth: (spoken) Hey, Floyd, take a verse!

Floyd Pepper:
Let me take your picture, add it to the mixture, there it is I got you now!
Really nothin' to it, anyone can do it, it's easy and we all know how.
Now begins the changin', mental rearrangin', nothing's really where it's at,
Dr. Teeth:
Now the Eiffel Tower's holdin up a flower.
I gave it to a Texas cat!

[Musical bridge]

Floyd:
Fact is there's nothin out there you can't do
Yeah, even Santa Claus believes in you.
Dr. Teeth:
Beat down the walls, begin, believe, behold, begat.
Floyd:
Be a better drummer, be an up and comer. Can you picture that?

Animal:
CAN YOU PICTURE THAT??!!

Floyd:
All of us are winnin, pickin and a-grinnin, Lordy but I love to jam
Janice
Jelly-belly gigglin, dancin and a-wigglin, honey that's the way I am!
Dr. Teeth:
Lost my heart in Texas, Northern lights affect us, I keep it underneath my hat,
Aurora Borealis, shinin down on Dallas! Can you picture that?
Can you picture that?

(Chorus)
Can you picture? You gotta see it in your mind!
Can you picture? You know it's quick and easy to find!
Can you picture? You don't have to buy a frame!
Can you picture? Can you picture that?
Can you picture that?

Dr. Teeth:
Use it if you need it
Floyd:
Don't forget to feed it!
All:
Can you picture that?

Ask Miss Piggy

I'm afraid Miss Piggy isn't submissive enough for Rocco. I cant picture her letting any man spit in her mouth, violently gag her with his penis, and then force her to taste her own fecal matter (via his penis). Since this seems to be Rocco Siffredi's modus operandi, I envision Miss Piggy karate chopping his ass right off the set. Hiyah! (karate chop sound?) Miss Piggy don't play that creepy shit.
