Cassius Marcellus Coolidge's body of work has been commented on before. I've been to the Met. and looked at this and it would never fit in a game room or above the urinal at the local trendy bar, but the works of C.M. Coolidge will. I also ran across another great American artist, Art Frahm but the link had already been discussed a couple years ago here. If you have not seen it its worth the visit. Art at it's best.

Frahm reminds me (or vice versa) of the artist who's done those pulp fiction-esque New Yorker covers recently...anyone?

At any rate he sure had a thing for skirts, didn't he? What I don't get is, wouldn't such stiff breezes tend to keep one's panties up?

WTF? You linked to two artists that have been discussed here already, just to mention them? No update, no news, just "Hey, I went to the Met and saw work by these two great artists?"

At least give us something new to talk about.

Umm, me3dia, I think the point is that "dogs playing poker" has been referenced as egregious "American culture" in an offhand way, but the artist himself as a separate entity has not, thus engaging curiosity about who's behind this piece of Americana. Follow the links.

If that was mss's intention, he should have come out and said it. I shouldn't have to do meta-analysis to arrive at the point of a post.
