Gigposters.com is a huge gallery of band gig posters, most lovingly silkscreened by hand. It has a good collection of favorites like Art Chantry and Pearl Jam, but also recent upstarts Aesthetic Apparatus. My favorites are on the other end of the musical spectrum, as I have several of the great country posters of Hatch Show Print. What happens when these posters are left up long after the gig? Why, they only become more charming with age.

I was pretty surprised when I couldn't search for gigposters here, it also being a final nominee at SXSW last year. I may be wrong, but hey, who doesn't like looking at more neat posters?

Incredible resource for music fans. I'll have fun browsing this site for weeks to come. Thanks, Stan.

Am I stupid, or is there no way to purchase these? Turns out some bands still care about doing it right.

At least in the case of Aesthetic Appatatus, you can buy posters directly from their website. Gigposters.com seems to be more of a gallery than a store. Try contacting the individual artist(s).

thanks for posting this...what an amazing site

my boy and i have a couple of the pearl jam posters hanging up, (and have some other posters kicking around waiting to be put up) and we're starting to amass quite a collection. this just makes me want more of them.

if anyone finds out where to purchase (beyond contacting specific artists), post that here too!

I actually just spoke to my friend, who is one half of Aesthetic Apparatus and shocked to find himself linked on Mefi -- He said this about Gigposters:

Not only do heavy hitters like Jeff Kleinsmith, Art Chantry or Frank Kozik not only have posters displayed up there but are active participants in poster discussion and debate on a near daily basis. Hell, Kleinsmith and Chantry are up there right now.

I think that's the coolest part of the site.

Are there any other forums out there that have the "big-wigs" of a movement or industry participating in a similar way?

Check out Theo's bandfotos and posters. :-) On the frontpage there is band called Hjärter fem (The Five Hearts in swedish), and look at their costumes...

Aesthetic Apparatus: They are really nice. Swell guys. I've known Michael for far too long. Their posters are all hand screened and printed on nice stock. If you need some design work done in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, send your money their way (unless, of course, you want to hire me...). Good stuff.

Odd that it's not searchable through google. I brought it up here not long ago in this thread.
