Santa needs some sophisticated adult entertainment!

Santa Rampage! Last weekend a horde of Santa's wreaked havoc on Washington DC's clubs, bars and adult establishments. Amazingly only one santa was decked in the entire evening.

Visuals and more about this annual rampage can be found at Santarchy, just one of the many fine activities hosted by the inimitable Cacophony Society.

This is hysterical. "Santa needs some sophisticated adult entertainment." Ha!

This is the funniest thing I've seen on MeFi since ... uhhhh .... last week.

In case we're ever forced to take sides, for the record, I'm with the santas on this one.

So that's where this episode came from.

That's what I love about DC, all the random semi-organized stuff that happens. Earlier this year they had the annual drag races, which aren't what you think.

I've participated in SF in the past, and you wouldn't believe the attention that you get from cops just for wearing a shabby Santa suit.

That's because you're supposed to deck the halls, not santa. (rimshot)

Good plan for a theme party.
If your lucky it could be the start of a mini riot - depending on the size of the gathering.

Sounds like something inspired by "Le Père Noel est une Ordure" (roughly, "Santa Claus is a Piece of Shit"), an incredibly well-known cult comedy in France.

One of the Santa's quoted as saying, "It's just a bunch of idiots in Santa suits." I would suggest revising this to "drunken idiots". These are the same guys who attend NFL games dressed like drunken idiot mascots.

really? are these the same santas who meet up on Ave A and ride bikes (bicycles) around the city, and protest consumerism? Or did it maybe begin that way and over the years spread, and spread thin, until it's now just a party... Well, the NY santas on bicycles made me happy. I just went & did a search for them and they're not showing, though - did I make the whole thing up?

Wow. You could not be more wrong.

I mean, theoretically, you could be, and you may even prove me incorrect here, but I don't think that my poor heart could handle the shock.

That must be why it was invented in San Francisco.

Still trying to come to grips with this concept. Is this like "jumbo shrimp"?

God damn it. I always hear about about things like this the day after they occur.

Ah well, there's always next year.

This article refers to Santacon or Santarchy, a yearly event put on by the Cacophony Society, a group devoted to pranksterism & anti-consumerism. There's also a link between Santacon & Burning Man. Read the police report of the first Santacon, in San Francisco. Check out photos of past Santacons around the U.S. & Canada here.

Apologies everyone for my last duplicate link -- I just realized Madamjujujive has already provided you with excellent information above about Santacon & the wonderful Cacophony Society. So if you see a posse of drunken Santas coming down the main street of your city, at least you'll be prepared!

These are the same guys who attend NFL games dressed like drunken idiot mascots.

Then it must be a completely different event than the apparently indistinguishable Santa rampage that happened a week or two ago here in Seattle, which was composed mostly of burners, techies, and other creatively irreverent people.
