Merry Christmas from Scandinavian Airlines!

Merry Christmas from Scandinavian Airlines! Scandinavian Airlines has offered a special online-only deal for each day of December. You go to the site and open the day's date (like an Advent calendar) and a new European city is offered--you can then fly to that city roundtrip from the US for about $250 US. The catch? You have 24 hours to book, you must travel between January and mid-March, and you must depart from Seattle, Newark, DC or Chicago. It's a neat deal, but today's the last day, and so as a great holiday surprise they've opened up all the past cities. Pick any of the previously offered destinations, get thee to one of the four departure cities, and enjoy a great airfare deal! London, Paris, Madrid, Oslo, Stockholm, Milan and other cities are offered. (Not a plug--I don't work for or have any connection to SAS.)

Note: Not all destinations are offered from all four cities, it seems, though many are.

That's excellent. Ahh, if I had $500...

If only the site didn't get an ASP error.

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'
Type mismatch: 'arrData'

Good luck getting to the booking page. Their server seems to throwing major ASP errors at the moment.

Works for me--haven't gotten an error yet.

Here's their home page if that helps anyone. Holiday offer is on the right hand side.

I ask you, who except a Norwegian wants to relax in Oslo in January? Not a snub, and I imagine the fjords are magnificent any time of year, but really.

Yeah, that reminds me of this one time. When there was this really great deal on this thing, and stuff. Yeah, what a lameass waste of time post.

I would say your mean-spirited, lame-ass comment was more of a waste of time than this post. No one made you read the post, let alone comment on it, grinch.

Nice attempt at being clever too! Almost there!

The site is taunting us. Such a good deal, but then... ASP errors. Damn them.

actually photar, this is just the thing I was looking for, and you're a real prick.

Photar: Get your own blog, fuckwit.

It was a good post.

So, you DON'T think its lame posting something like this? I've got some expired Wheaties coupons you might be interested in.

Don't get all out of shape I don't take myself that seriously and neither should you.

And I do have my own website.

I agree with Photar; this was an extremely lame post. Discount airline deals are now worthy of the MeFi front page? Whatever.

It seems like an unusual deal and it didn't strike me in the slightest as being improper. I was glad to hear about it, though I wasn't able to take advantage of it. (I sure thought hard about it, though.)

Take it to MeTa, kids. As to holiday destinations - Copenhagen is a beautiful city, and the natives are friendly, but really - don't go in January. The days are nasty, brutish and short on this lattitude at this time of year. And though Christmas in Copenhagen is spectacular (Tivoli is especially beautiful at Yuletide), well, Christmas was in December.

I suppose the London climate in winter is not all that different from the Seattle climate, so I was toying with visiting London. At least it would be crappy weather in a New! Exciting! Place!

Did anyone get the site to work well enough to put an order through?

This is a good deal, but a lame post. Why? 1) By the time I saw this the deal was over. Mefi has been up and down since the 23rd. 2) This deal has been available since the 1st, but wasn't posted until the 24th - the last damn day it was available.
If this had been posted sooner I'd be singing all the way to Oslo (or wherever) instead I feel like I'm being teased. I'd take it to meta but that opportunity has also passed....

ps: spellcheck wanted Mefi to be Mafia.

Prior to 12/24, it would have been a lame post--one deal to one city per day was not worth a post. But the fact that they opened up all the past windows on 12/24 made it exceptional. It also by necessity made it limited in time.

The site's booking engine seemed to work well enough before it was posted, perhaps the Metafilter effect knocked it down.
