There is something unsavory to me about eating food cooked by the same heat that's making a bunch of naked guys sweat. But I can't quite put my finger on it...must be my North American hangups.

That would be the best thing ever. Have a cookout, and then get in the sauna. Brilliant.

I only looked at the pictures, I didn't read the text - how did they vent the CO fumes from the charcoal?

It was a gas barbie, starvingartist

Bah. This SAUNAAB will be nothing once I complete my Fondu-ne Buggy!

Ah, that would explain it. Thanks.

Those Saabs sure know how to handle cold weather

Eh, I still like Mazdalicious better. I'd rather have a cold keg than a hot sauna. (Full disclosure - I ate a hamburger off of M'licious at BMan99.)

I want one. I would want the (also known as the rallye-bun.) one even more.
Here's a page (in Finnish, but with images) about a sauna in a kleinbus. The kleinbus should be vastly superior as a sauna simply because it actually has some room, and uses wood instead of gas. The kleinbus sauna was built in 1982 and is still in use, although it has been rebuilt a few times. And if you're going to cook sausages with a sauna the proper way to do it is to do it on the rocks.

Sure, it's great for eating off of and sweating inside of, but how is it at reaping the souls of the undead?

Wonder if I can fit a hot tub in my Volvo wagon...

Someone has finally found a good use for those hideously ugly and unreliable Saabs.

This reminds me of an article I wrote (sorry, not online) for the January 2002 issue of Air & Space/ Smithsonian about the Swine Flew, a bunch of fun-loving people in western Missouri who turned a wrecked airplane into a barbeque grill, which they haul around to various cooking contests.

A smoking oven, I mean, not a grill. We don't know from barbeque up here in the Gulf of Maine.

Microbus Sauna! Awesome! (I'm reminded of a pizza-truck I saw on the roadside in a Paris suburb -- right at the last stop on Line 8. Your typical european white van with a wood burning brick oven built into the thing. Had the cutest little black steel smoke stack.)

ah, if they could only keep the engine in and make the sauna truly mobile.

warms the cockles of my finnish heart.
