A Timely Recurrence

Americans do not want a War. Even after the administration's aggressive case for going to war soon in Iraq, a majority of Americans favor giving United Nations weapons inspectors more time to complete their work so that any military operation wins the support of the Security Council. Is it the role of a President to carry the support of the people? Or does a true leader press onward, with a personal clarity of moral vision? Is George W. Bush the next Jesus?

Is George W. Bush the next Jesus?

Jesus - George W. Bush:
Born into abject poverty - Born into limitless privilege
Consorts with the lowest and poorest in society - would like to pretend the poor do not exist
Preaches to turn the other cheek when struck - preaches to hit the other guy first.

Yep, it's official: George W. Bush is the opposite of Jesus.

Is George W. Bush the Antichrist?.....Or just an ill-tempered man (like myself) raised in a very bad environment?

Maybe we can get a UN sanction to curtail MeFi Iraq threads. At least until the first Muslim Pacification Campaign begins.

Assuming that this thread survives, I'd be interested to hear what makes you say that, owillis. I understand there is a significant anti-UN feeling in America, but I'm curious as to why.

How about because there's something ridiculous about an organization which puts the United States on an equal rhetorical footing with....Libya. Or Sudan. Or Syria?

Any further FPP's about Iraq should be a bannable offense.

Any further FPP's that link to the New York Times should be a bannable offense. I still refuse to 'create an account' with them.

And that's ridiculous how?

What's ridiculous about that, Paris? Quality will out, won't it? Why should one have to command a powerful economy and a nuclear arsenal to have a voice on the world stage?

(and ZachsMind - hear, hear!)
