Is the Russia of the late Romanovs really our model, a selfish, superstitious empire thrashing toward self-destruction in the name of a doomed status quo? From U.S. Diplomat John Brady Kiesling's resignation letter to Colin Powell.

This is at least a double post, although I think I've seen it here twice already.

Since I missed the first post, I'll comment here:

You know, this guy could have just said "I quit!" and walked out, and then started a blog to tell the world how he feels. I seriously doubt that Secretary Powell will be swayed by this man's reasons for resigning.

Yeah some people really get a hard on for the "thrashing empire" quote.

Really all it is a disgruntled ex-employee going down in flames.

"Last Days of the Romanoffs" - Dick Cheney plays Lenin, Trent Lott plays Trotsky. In "After the Romanoffs", John Ashcroft plays Beria, Don Rumsfeld plays Stalin.

I did a quick Yahoo! search for "John Brady Kiesling biography", and the only listings I could find are of his resignation letter.
Please pass the sweet and sour shrimp.
