Fighting it out at the top of the "eclectic funk" charts this week are corporate sell-outs The Sea Queues and darlings of the people the glass chain with their algorithmic dance hit Garden of Forking Paths:

Adam on drums (loop 3); FunkyPaul on guitar (loop 5); Emily on bass (loop 2); DJBeeJay on turntables (loop 2) and Kristi on keys (loop 1).

Shooting up the zero-airplay charts, it's The Monarchy with their painfully eclectic and indeed funkified debut album This Contribution Is Lousy.

Adam on drums (loop 1); DJDraSrick on tha dexxx (loop 3); HardcorePaul on guitar (loop 2); Amy on clarinet (loop 1); Emilie on bass (loop 4). Up the bass. Selecta.

the national union of plague victims are coming and they have a message and you are not going to like it.

emily (bass, 5), rachel (bass, 5), hardcore paul (guitar, 2), hardcore paul's twin brother hardcore paul (guitar, 3) and kristie (drums, 3) will play for you the finest industrial-motorik-jazz-krautrock you ever heard.

brilliant. actually far better than i was expecting. nice one, carlos!

i'm going to go and listen to everyone else's bands now i have the ingredients. maybe i'll sample some of these and pass it off to friends as my own band!

I always forget how much fun Dancing Paul can be. My band, The Dewdney's, were doing fine until all the drugs and drink got to them, not to mention the VD. Sorry to say, tho, it's a double, just over a year ago.

That is fun. I'm sorry I didn't make note of my final lineup before coming back here!

i'm going to pretend i hadn't seen the double post, and continue for a moment with my tribute band section:

hardcore paul plays a tribute to glenn branca:
harcore paul (guitar, loop1), harcore paul (guitar, loop1), harcore paul (guitar, loop1), harcore paul (guitar, loop1), harcore paul (guitar, loop1), harcore paul (guitar, loop1)

emily plays a tribute to rothko:
emily (bass, loop1), emily (bass, loop2), emily (bass, loop3)

nylon's tribute the martin tetreault orchestra:
dj heiney (loop1), dj heiney (loop2), dj heiney (loop3), dj heiney (loop4), dj heiney (loop5), dj dra-stik (loop5)

i'd do more, but i'm going to go out and play in the sunshine now.

Naked Twister Bongo Party is now rockin' the library with their brand new single, "Twinkie in the Ho-Ho." . Sounds a bit like a Spanish Porn soundtrack.

Kristie on drums - 3rd loop- Amy on clarinet - 4th loop -- Rachel on bass - 3rd loop -- Funky Paul on Guitar - 3rd loop, and Kristi on the keys - 3rd loop.

The Double Posters humbly sweep the floor with "Y.H.B.C. (I Searched and Searched, Honest)":

Amy on clarinet (loop 2); Milkbone on horns (loop 1); DJ Bee Jay (loop 3); DJ DraStik (loop 2) and Adam on drums (loop 2).

Humiliation never sounded so bitter. :)

Now playing, my supergroup Forgetful Gypsy:

Masters of pop hits created in GrooveBlender, Forgetful Gypsy is Kristie on drums banging out Loop 2, Rachel slammin' Loop 2 on bass, a groovy Loop 3 from FunkyPaul on rhythm guitar, and DJDraStiK on the turntables playin the breaks with Loop 4. PFunk plays Loop 2 on the bottles off to the side, but his volume is turned all the way down; he's in the band for visual novelty, not his musical ability.

They'll still be practicing their hit single "Keep it Real" for a while, but if you stick around long enough they do an awesome cover of the Turtles' "Elenore".
