Bush and Blair broadcast direct to the Iraqis. Freedom TV will bring the truth (?) to the Iraqis for the first time. I'd like to see a transcript.

Apparently not long after its inception this new tv channel suffered from a power surge, cue the headline..

"Towards freedom.............fries."

Here's an early snippet of the transcript:

"Na na Na na boo boooooo! We so TOTALLY kicked your ass! PFFFFBBBBTTTTTTT!!!"

OK, apologies probablysteve. I have to look at Metafilter at work so I don't have the chance for research.

Freedom TV, did it used to be called French TV?

I have an idea. Let's report each new development in the Iraq war right here on Metafilter.

Why I have the transcript right here, let's see. It says:
"Iraq was just the beginning. All your goofy oil rich countries are belong to us." Hm, must be translated from the original German.

Oh wait, heres more:
"We have liberatated you from Sadam. Now we must go about the important business of renaming your food items. Please replace the word "French" with the word "Freedom". In this way, you will achieve stabilility."

I caught a bit on the morning news. It looked like mostly "We're here, we are not going to leave like we did in 91, the US and UK are your friends."

I think it was only like 2 minutes each guy so there wasn't much said.

Sorry.

Blair and Bush TV broadcast to Iraq

I'm envisioning something like the old Carson Show:

BUSH:It was so hot in Baghdad today-

BLAIR: HOW HOT WAS IT?

BUSH: It was so hot that...people gotta realize that, uhhh... melting away... fool you me...somerthing. Uhhhhh-

BLAIR:HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

(BUSH swings imaginary golf club)

Man, Tony's tie sure doesn't help the legibility of those Arabic subtitles.

How about Warfilter?

Question is, will it operate in conjunction with or in replacement of Iraqi television?

probablysteve : then why didn't you look for it.

Why be an asshole just for the sake of being an asshole?AssholeFilter.

Other methods of approach :

"Here you go friend, I found the transcript at this corner of the web."

"Oh, well I just happened upon the transcript and here it is for you to enjoy, buddy."

Is putting Bush and Blair on telly really the best way to re-assure the Iraqis? If I was a frightened Iraqi and those two turned up on my TV I'd fear for the worst. Still, it could be worse - they could have put Geoff Hoon on. That would have really freaked out the poor little lambs.

Nah. That would just turn MeFi into a highly divisive, ugly, repetitious blog that would merely argue the same positions over and over. And would demonstrate huge disrespect for our host, who has asked us in quite clear and unambiguous terms not to do so.

I think "matt hates it" is the new "no talking during the war!"

Mr Blair's official spokesman said some of "Saddam's people" still posed a threat although they were "melting away" in many areas.

So that's what happened to the Wicked Witch of the Middle-East.
