The idea: A place for posting songs where they might actually get heard -- preferably someone who can help get it published. We've teamed with SuperfastNetworks to create the first song blog**.

Will the the Metafilter Music Channel be next?
**Actually it works with any digital content.

I don't know about the first song blog.

This site has been running since last July, featuring a daily mashup by the author.

The 365 project has been going since the start of this year, with much fanfare here and elsewhere.

I shall be contributing an ambient work of a quiet, rasping sucking noise, wet and circular, almost sensurround, energetic and yet full of languor. I shall name it after Alan Ladd's most famous film. ;)

Heh! Very funny, Miguel. Carlos. Portugese/English-Cognac-and-Cigar-Man. Whatever.

In what sense is this a blog? Really, has this word lost all meaning?

And in what sense will this actually get your song heard by someone who might publish it?

"How? We're located at the end of [Nashville] music row..."

...but I don't see how that figures in much either, unless they are implying that they are "connected." Matt's idea of a shared space for audio files, and the fact that it would draw off a large already-established community (Mefi members) and a site with an established readership -- this makes much more sense to me.

But, I don't know. All I really wanted to do was get the idea of "song blogs" and "Metafilter Music Channel" some exposure and see where the ideas go from there. I grabbed "Nashville Nuke" on a whim as I needed a link. Not the best link, as Matt pointed out, but it served its purpose and got the ball rolling. I guess...
