Japanese Streets. 150% cool.

Boy, I thought this was an interesting idea, but most of the street fashion was fairly banal. I think if I had a high-speed connection it might make a difference, as I might be able to find the stand-out fashionistas much quicker. Truth be told most street fashion probably is quite boring. I was looking for something much more exciting. I did like 'today's model.

Anyone who likes Japanese Streets may also enjoy "Fruits", another picturebook of wild Japanese street fashion. It makes one hell of a coffee table book.

PigAlien, you must've skipped the Cosplay sections. Plenty of wacky outfits for everyone!

Ditto LanguageHat. A website documenting the architecture and history of Japanese Streets woulda been 150% cool. This was so not cool it might as well have been a fan site about reality based television.

wow. Darren to you always have that much to bring to conversations? You must be the most sought after guest on the party scene.

I didn't really need additional proof of my total un-hipness.

Now, if there was a country full of middleaged guys in Dockers, I'd be the king.

But there isn't.

You haven't been to the beautiful country of Suburbia lately, have you, King Tommasz.

Thanks, monju_bosatsu, that was redemptive.

On November 9th, 2005, Dockers will be kawaii. You heard it here first.

I'm loving this. The street art section might attract some of you non-fashionistas (although you might already be familiar with Mori Chack, but how about Itoh Hideki and Adachi Sayaka and Nishimura T?) There's a little bit of everything. Fun to peruse. Not to mention these adverts:

Japanese Race Queens!

November 9th is my b-day, eddy. Coincidence? I hope so.

Sheesh, gottabefunky, tough crowd here - I loved the post, thought it was a fun site to browse. I am a great fan of Japanese pop culture, just can't get enough. Any site that has a photo of Mori Chack, illustrator of Gloomy Bear, is ok by me!

I have no problem with people liking hip cool funky pop fashion, and I would have no problem with this post if it were labeled "Japanese street fashion." I would just skip it and move on. But when it's labeled "Japanese Streets" I expect Japanese streets, which I think is reasonable, and resent having my precious time wasted. If I post about obscure languages I promise I won't call it "Hip cool funky pop fashion!"

Hey, this gal, the one on the right, is dressed almost exactly the same way that I was yesterday. Around here, though, it's generally known as "decayed bohemian casual" instead of "Japanese cool". Little did I know that I was on the cutting edge of fashion! *runs off excitedly to phone friends*

AAAAAHHH! I hit "stop" when I realized that I had, once again, got right and left mixed up, but the post went up anyway... For the record, it's "left". Mea culpa.
