One Sesame Chicken To Go?

BIG BIRD UNPLUCKED Murdoch's yellow journalism finally finds a subject that's equally yellow, as they pull the juiciest 'nuggets' from the about-to-be-published book by 'the person beneath the feathers'.
* The battle to save Big Bird from being "the village idiot"!!!
* His declaration of allegiance with Red China!!!
* How Jim Henson made Big Bird dance AND made him cry!!!
* The accident that almost 'cooked his goose'!!!
* The rapper who broke Big Bird's neck!!!
Of course, those tabloid turkeys missed the REAL inside story of Big Bird: from his recent awards to his Secret Connection to Bob Dole!!!

Big Bird is Boring.

Bert is Evil. (damn popup on this site NSFW)

However, the entire cast beneath the puppets look like pretty cool guys to me.

Except Bert, he's still evil.

I do like behind the scenes muppet literature, but did we really need an Amazon link here?

Here's the official site.

And the headline put me off reading the article too...

Interesting criteria for choosing what to read....

Reading about Jim Henson making Big Bird cry reminds me of the time Big Bird made me cry...

I don't have kids, and I wasn't one of those who spent time in the dorm room getting high and watching the numbers whiz by, so it had been ages since I'd watched "Sesame Street." One night a few years ago there was a prime time special, "Sesame Street Unpaved", I think. My husband had it on, and I was watching bits and pieces. Then it came to the part where Big Bird was looking for Mr. Hooper to show him a drawing. The others told him that Mr. Hooper had died. Big Bird said OK, then, I'll show it to him when he gets back. Then they went about explaining what "dead" means.

That big stupid bird had this 30-something year old sitting on the couch, sobbing uncontrollably.

FPP formatting comments? There's a MeTa thread for that.

re: Big Bird - I think it's neat that a kind-looking, gray-haired gentleman is the voice of an eternally young and innocent character.

Plus, the recasts link is pretty fascinating - would we have ever known if it wasn't there (and, obviously, if Henson's passing hadn't been so widely reported)?

What I wanna know is, who was the rapper that slugged him?

I think the rapper was on of the members of Run DMC. I seem to remember them appearing on a show.

I find the headline to be inaccurate. If Big Bird is being exposed, wouldn't he be "plucked" rather than "unplucked"?
