Beatbox + Harmonica = Cool

First time I've heard a harmonica AND beatbox used together. Although not a fan of the harmonica, I found this to be suprisingly cool.

1) that's fuckin' amazing.

2) video streaming via flash works surprisingly well.

Thanks for the links Joedan. Yeah Signal, I was a little suprised that it was Flash. I'm sure the small size helps in terms of optimizing the sound.

If he could manage to compose the Stage Complete Victory theme from Super Mario Bros (which he nearly touches on several times), he will have achieved nerd nirvana.

Sheesh... aNOTHer beatbox + harmonica thread?

Started out righteous strong, but, like a lot of hip-hop, became more diffused as it become more complex. Holmes got skills. Thanks KS!

Holy crap! Those AV links on his home page are pretty freakin' amazing too. Can you tell I don't get out much?

I don't get out much either, KS. And I'll add I'm not a big fan of either harmonica or beatbox, but the two together was great. I thought the "completing the circle" thing of the two together was pretty nifty.

For beatboxing, plus harmonica, plus little Casio keyboard there is also CR Avery, who toured with Sage Francis last time around. He's quite excellent.

On Sunday I saw Spearhead in Baltimore... their beatboxer, Radioactive, did a routine where he beatboxed and played the pan flute. Seriously. The guy's amazing.

It's funny to me how all these years after beatboxing emerged, people are finally starting to see how creative and difficult it is and how it's not just "people spitting into their hands" (I can't count the number of times I've heard that).

Well, there is some spitting into the hands involved.

I saw this guy here in DC a few months ago, and he is amazing. And beyond just beat-boxing, too - he did this audio performance art piece on the war combining rifle fire, radio static, news reports, aircraft noises, *and* beats, all just using his mouth and a microphone.

If you have a chance to see him, do it.
