Wonkette. Like Gawker, but for Washington, DC.

(Yeah, yeah, a bit late on the buzz. Link via J Ko, blog from N Dent. Are there any more "Denton Empire" blogs that I haven't seen? Also, I take exception to Denton's claim that DC lacks sex appeal. I'm here, aren't I?)

Haven't gone through it all, but it seems like Gawker for politics not DC. While DC is often about politics and it's primary business no discussion of bars, political receptions, or life in the city for the most part. I think that would be a great angle for it to take, but until it does it just seems to be a Nick Denton version of a political blog...not that there is anything wrong with that but the internet is already saturated with political blogs.

Er, read the whole site, geist. The discussion of auditions for the Coyote Ugly bar, for example, wasn't about politics.

I actually found that Wonkette discussed politics less than the actual DCites I know. It's still a one-industry town, especially for white folks from elsewhere.

Hey, at least Ana picked up a better post-Suck gig than Heather, who seems to do nothing but crank out those awful "reality show" features for Salon.

Too bad Ana was one my my least favorite Sucksters or I might otherwise get a kick out of reading this even though I've no interest in DC whatsoever.

Also, what t r a c y said.
