"fleet owners of a tanker companies" = the new evil doers?
what kind of questions do yesterday's discovery of ricin in the capitol, and the january 9th article ask about our "war on terror"? [ initial link via TPM ]

Maybe it's a lone crazed terrorist. And Iraq might have had Ricin !
Beyond that, maybe it's time for the Bush Administration to make a new push for amendments to the Patriot Act.
And that whole issue - of whether or not the Bush Administration distorted pre-war intelligence information on Iraq's possible possession of WMD's - was spinning rather out of control now, wasn't it.
A little pinch of Ricin......it's like magical faery-dust to Washington's political climate - sprinkle a bit here, a bit there, and Lo ! Everything changes, everything is possible.
Just in time, too.
The lapdogs of the mass media, out on their daily walk by the Bush Administration, might just have blundered into the festering fact of North Korea's WMD program - which the White House has so far successfully kept out of their eager little attention-deficit challenged brains by tossing them a steady stream of tasty doggy snacks.
When these mutts are fattened up enough, they are rendered down at the glue factory and reformed into much fancier kibble-foods to be marketed by the Judith Miller "Low-Carb" Patriotic Press Diet Journalism Company, and sold at supermarkets everywhere.
It's the finest kibble money can buy, and it comes with the New York Times' gold seal of approval.

They're probably withholding the "fleet owners of a tanker companies" bit to make sure people don't jump the gun on anything.
Chances are that, unless the person who did this is completely insane, they wouldn't describe themselves at all, but just threw that line in there to throw people off.

It is plausible that someone would be angry enough and dim enough to do something like this, make their demand and sign their job position to it. Seriously. I've known people that deranged, and I think it's pretty obvious if you stop and think about it for a minute.
On the other hand, I trust Sen. Frist et al as far as I can throw them.

I don't know 'bout any conspiracy theories. But I do think Karl Rove's media distractions are losing some of their elan. I mean, shock and awe was cool. And the State of the Union during the Iowa primary was kind of sneaky. But this is sort of boring. It's not like Karl to get upstaged by Janet Jackson's udder. I wonder if he has anything a bit more telegenic planned before the ground zero groundbreaking at the GOP convention?

Looks like the postal service is really doing a smash-up job of finding these suspicious packages.
If it had been coke instead of ricin those responsible would already be behind bars. It would be fun if this country actually paid attention to terrorism instead of drugs. Oh well, one can always dream.

Someone on a radio talk show connected the story in this thread with the story of the ricin, on the idea that the closing of Frist's office makes it harder to investigate the dirty tricks. An interesting angle.
