Air traffic controller killed by revengeful father ?? It's a long and sorry story I bet.

Lawyers for Skyguide, the air traffic control group that employed Nielsen, settled out of court last November, paying an estimated $US300,000 ($388,000) each to the families of the aircrew.

Mh maybe they "settled" and they weren't condemned to ; according to what I heard the other day on Euronews, there was gross negligence from Skyguide as they allegedly had this situation:

1) one controller at work instead of the required two
2) an out-of-order landing system of some kind
3) an out-of-order telecommunication line.

If the revengeful father story turns out to be true, I wouldn't be amazed to learn that no person in the company was actually responsible of anything and that there was only a virtual punishment to the company (additional costs paid by the insurace btw) which I guess is not a good deterrent for human negligence.

"Swiss police are considering..."

"It is now thought possible..."

Possibly a long and sorry story but considering there ain't no stinking facts, possibly not.

The worst of Newsfilter. The kind that isn't even news.

Nice retort, johnny7. It's still newsfilter.

Sweet, johnny7... post a story of limited interest without much in the way of facts and attack the first person who calls you on it.

You'll go far my friend, the skies the limit, I say. The sky!

Sweet, cedar .... attack a story that has limited interest to you.
Then whinge when the retort isn't as erudite as you had hoped.
Got your attention though.

Oh... this is so tempting. It would be so easy to fire off a string of profanity in the guise of erudition, it would be so much fun to hop up on my high horse and exclaim, "My God, they're so blind!"

On the other hand, it would be easier to just ignore something I really don't give hoot about (and judging by the reaction to this fascinating piece of breaking news, this is not an uncommon opinion). So that's what I'll be doing.

As far as getting my attention goes, a youthful indiscretion once led to an oozing sore on my penis, it certainly got my attention, but only in the sense of deciding I'd rather stab myself in the eye with a stick than suffer through it again. Kind of like a conversation with you.

sheesh. Um anyway.

I thought the story somewhat poignant and hadn't seen it, nor was likely to. But please leave me out of your little party here.

Freaky to me that the movie Pushing Tin with John Cusack was so realistic that this air traffic controller walked out of the showing.

OK, for the betterment of all humanity, cedar & johnny7 should now go kill themselves.

It's really for the best, you know.

hey, aren't you that sniper dude?

True, but I've recently started outsourcing the work to the victims themselves. It's cheaper, faster, and allows me to concentrate on my core business of exterminating two-thirds of the global population.

It's a win-win!
