I've heard that some terrorists eat ice cream, and I'm pretty sure that a terrorist - or a future terrorist - will eat one of these free ice cream cones.

Should John Ashcroft prosecute Ben and Jerry and the CEO of Baskin Robbins, under the Patriot Act - for aiding and abetting terrorism ?

Also, bovine growth hormones - which persist in cow's milk - may be linked to cancer in humans. ....Does this mean that dairy farmers are sort of like terrorists too ?

Anyway - I'd be interested to know how many free cones Ben and Jerry's gives out vs. how many free scoops Baskin Robbins scoops.

I bet Ben and Jerry's wins. But maybe not - BR might have more stores. - Per store ? Gross figures ?

Is B&J's ice cream better ? Or just more effectively marketed ?
And is there an ideological split, with Dems eating B&J's ice cream and Repubs. eating at Baskin Robbins ?

Ben & Jerry's is richer, I think (more cream and sugar?).

Thanks for the reminder, crunch!

B&J has less air pumped into it, which translates as creamier (i.e. more cream per equal volume).

There are no B&J's in texas.

Nah, it's a taste split. B&J's is far better ice cream, but it's also more expensive. But I've been known to eat both on occasion, and when things are free, I relax my standards.

I think that the far right eats Hagen Dasz. The fake German gets 'em all excited.

How about those convenient hours of Baskin-Robbins' promotion? I'm sure most people do their ice cream buying between 6pm-10pm.

j : I know... Nothing... nyet, nadda. We have to go and buy it in pints at the specialty shops. They have shops in 2/3 of all the states, just not not the really big ones. (Alaska, Texas).

Of course, who needs Ice Cream in Alaska?

I remember reading somewhere that Ben and Jerry's started with the idea that if you were colder on the inside, the colder air felt warmer--or some such nonsense. So ice cream was best in the winter.

Have you seen the lines for each of these promotions in years past? Immense. I'd rather pay the few bucks some other time and not have to wait for an hour-plus for my ice cream.

Did the public's willingness to pay $3.50/pint for premium ice cream drive up the price of normal ice cream? I seem to remember offbrands being much less than they are now 10 years ago.

I read that that as "There are no BJ's in texas".

If anyone wants me I'll can be found in the gutter.

I thought the whole idea was to get a cone at B&J and then fill it with a Baskin scoop of ice cream.....

Great... free ice cream when it's 37 degrees farenheit here...

dabitch Is a uniter, not a divider. Shouldn't we all follow her example on this, the most important of holidays?

Just got mine, Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz. No line at the (DC) Eastern Market B&J's. 4 years ago, I went through the line 4 times, which was just about 1 time too many. I've gone 3 times in each of the last 2 years. Dunno if I'll be able to do that today. Getting older, I guess.

Despite an entire elementary school in line before us, it only took us about three minutes to get our delicious, full-size cones. Highly recommended.

Back in December 1999, on the 93rd episode of the radio show I used to host, I interviewed the woman (a nurse named Jane) who was sitting in an ice cream shop in Portland, Maine, one day and thought up the idea of Cherry Garciia. When it became a reality, she got this little driver's license-type card that she could use to walk into any B&J shop, no matter what day it was, and get free ice cream. (I tried to swipe the card from her, but unfortunately it was a picture I.D., and I didn't really look anything like her.)
