Park. Gentlemen, stop your engines. [Flash.]

That is a remarkably faithful simulation of my inability to parallel park in real life.

excellent fun. for those who never went to parking school: pull up right next to the car in front; crank it all the way to the right; back up halfway; crank it all the way to the left; back up the rest of the way.

voila!

8.86 is my best, but i'm sure someone will do much better very soon.

I got frustrated after 5 mins or so, and drove round in round in circles, screaming "wombat".

I keep trying to hit the 45-degree angle right on, but that car has some powerful inertia.

6.66 - I am the beast of parking

yeah. it won't swing at all, but at least the wheels take time to turn, rather than steer instantly.

6.16.

i can do it in my car fairly easily, but i had trouble doing it with this.

i wonder if i can hook up a USB steering wheel?

44:13 seconds! Oh yeah!

It can be done in under that?

Are you all posting your scores, or your times? I had 29.06 in 17.20 seconds. So I'm either amazing, or sucktacular (I'm guessing sucktacular).

And don't forget to convert from metric.

Yeah, but how many chocs?

6:46 seconds, score 67.36.

scratch that. 4:16 seconds. 119.85 points. I am one with my vehicle.

6:33 seconds, score 78.93
It appears that the score is some sort of inverse of your time (assuming no chocs).

On preview, dammit Geek!

Thought while backing up, you cranked right at the parked cars half way mark, yet with this game your way worked :P

tips: it's all about getting it down to two fluid motions. 1) using the up and left arrow keys to slide next to the car above the spot, and 2) using a combo of the down+right then down+left to back into the spot.

if you screw up, don't bother fixing it, start over.

3:43, 119 points, because to get that fast I had to bang into the cars.

I tried for about ten minutes, never parked. Gave up.
posted by bargle at 7:52 PM on June 10, 2004

3:41 still, but 131 Points. And with that I'm done. The real trick is getting in position to put your wheel to the curb when you straighten out, so you immediately stop.

extreme parallel parking!

Clearly, the developer of this game isn't aware of how to park in Boston.

This site is proof of the importance of interface design. With a car, I can do this, no problem. With keyboard arrow keys, I'm a menace.

awadwatt, thank you for the video! Didn't Charlize Theron pull off something like that in 'The Italian Job'?

I prefer online simulations of things I don't get to experience daily. Cough.

was that subtle reference to a virtual hernia check? i haven't seen that Flash game yet.

awadwatt, i know i've seen a whole show on that competition, but i can't remember where/which network. it think it must have been Record Breakers, or something like that.

just like in real life, I can't even get the car to start.....
