A lot of interesting stuff here.

Is it just me or do the prices seem really inexpensive for an icon of johnny Cash's stature? A 1915 guitar for an est 1,000 to 1,500 USD?

I've got great childhood memories of riding around in my Dad's truck listening to some of his music on 8 track tapes. This post is bringing them back for me. Thanks, gwint.

Wow. That's the second post this week to get me to mist up.

keithl, I think the prices might be suggested starting points for bidding. Not sure, though; they do seem pretty low.

Cash For Sale

Johnny selected items for the auction in the months between June's death in May 2003 and his own that September, and the couple's children are helping to promote it according to his wishes. Johnny and June were notorious pack rats, and June filled nearly every corner of their home with antiques and family treasures.

Nick Tosches, in an aside about the abovementioned pack rat tendencies of Cash and Carter in hisCountry: The Twisted Roots of Rock 'n' Roll, noted that they owned something like 200 antique iron beds. Cash, like Elvis Presley and most of Sam Phillips's roster, and Sam Phillips, himself, for that matter, grew up dirt poor--Phillips thought it had everything to do with what they brought to their singing. As it did with Cash and Carter's spending, as well.

Look: I know there are rich people that go to this site. Sir or Madam, if you buy me this, I will do anything short of sexual favors. You name it. I will drop10 tabs of acid and run naked through the halls of my old school screaming "Ideas or the lack of them cause disease!"
