The name of the site is very apt. It truly does stink.

I'll put my mark in the "funny" column, but only after solemn deliberation and consideration. Honest.

This scandal was so sureally, beyond-the-pale embarrassing for all Americans that it deserves, and rewards, parody of this moronic coarseness. What else to do with such a loathesome notion as photo-ing oneself with unwitting (war-crime) victims other than herald it as the supreme act of arrogant inanity that it is? So I vote with PST. The whole site is worth it just for producing works of art such as this.

That's weird, no one rushed to condemn the guy this thread (also known as the "we can finally joke about beheadings" thread) is about.

It continues to sadden me that Rush and his band of wingnuts has likened this entire shameful episode to a frat house hazing. To me, the tone of this site comes off in the same vein, it trivializes the events. My discomfort is exacerbated by the meanness of people posing with homeless people and winos. Sad.

Maybe I'm just odd, but to me the whole thing is stupid. I don't mean stupid in the sense of degrading the people that made it. More of a stupid in that I take no side other than finding it boring and unfunny, you know... just dumb. There are a million things out there that are funny, this isn't one of them. I find FUH2(previously discussed here) more intriguing than this.

I'm with Jake on this one. That particular picture did not register enough in the public (or, perhaps, my) conscious for this concept to really work comedically.

Besides, at least in the USA, Tom Green and the boys from Jackass kind of ran the "humiliating random strangers" thing into the ground a couple years back.

So naughty. If you combinded this with the 'passed out wookiees' what would you get?

Of questionable taste, which is not neccessarily a bad thing.

If the governments of the coalition had treated the Abu Ghraib torture scandal with the urgency and respect it deserved there might be a more mature atmosphere around these pictures throughout society. It is almost worth these people reminding us of the commodification of the images as bargaining tools, which detracts from our society's humanity. The reports of torture should have been enough, why did it take these pictures appearance in the national press for the government to take *action*?

Funny, with a feeling of nausea attendant.

I doubt it. And I'm not saying that to dismiss the Abu Ghraib incidents. After every tragic event (at least as far back as I can remember) there's usually a batch of tasteless jokes that make the rounds afterwards. Ethiopian jokes, Space Shuttle jokes, Princess Di jokes, etc. The Internet just provides a new medium for it.

But it may have more impact in the UK and its a UK website (or at least most of the pictures are in the UK). I liked it.
