Bush killed Superman.

Bush killed Superman. When Christopher Reeve died my first thought was, Bush killed him, at least metaphorically. I wasn't alone, because someone registered the domain bushkilledsuperman.com that same day. The web site finally went live today, and has added more content since I checked it an hour ago.

I think the notion of Bush killing Reeve may not be acceptable, not even by the extreme left. It's simply factually false.

Yes, if you read the domain name as literally as you read your Bible, I'm sure you're up in arms over someone claiming Bush killed superman. Get a clue.

Even if Bush had allowed unlimited use of new stem cell lines in federally-funded research, it's not likely that a treatment would have been ready in time to save Christopher Reeve.

Yes, because medical discoveries take time, let's not even bother. Great philosophy.

yes fleener because he objects to loaded hyperbole, he's unequivocably against stem-cell research. Do you enjoy logic or do you just liking saying "outrageous" shit to make yourself look cool?

Get back to me on whether Bush killed Santa and the Tooth Fairy.

?

Uh, as a lifelong atheist, I wouldn't know.

In any case, I don't mind saying it's a shitty site with shitty oversimplistic writing and a shitty domain name. Sorry.

dhoyt, stop surprising fleener with facts. It might shatter his simplistic little worldview.

jonmc, I suggest you educate yourself on Bush's stance on stem cell research and his general attitude toward science as a whole.

This is stupid.

OTOH, someone in the Senate has stalled the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Act in the Senate.

fleener, this may surprise your sanctimonious ass, but I am aware of his myopic and clueless stance on the subject. You are not the only person in the universe possed of newspapers, tv and internet connection.

This site is hyperbolic, shrill twattery that makes people in favor of stem cell research (like myself) look like dimwitted yo-yo's. And I also object to your close-minded, prejudicial supposition that the only reason dhoyt could have a problem with this site is that he's a religious fanatic, which is demonstrably not true. NTM, I know several self-described Christians who are in favor of the research as well.

You assume to much and it makes reasonable positions look asinine.

In the Senate, that is.

WE KNOW about Bush's stance on the issue, fleener. It's common knowledge and probably most of us at MeFi are soundly against it. That's not what we're objecting to. It's the silly, poorly-written & hyperbolic tenor of the site that is so lame. Cheee-rist.

On preview: what jonmc said.

And fleener, you'd do best not to moderate your own posts if your arguements are so flimsy & half-witted.

Speaking of flimsy & half-witted, it's time to go watch Bush defend his domestic policies. A few pulls of Jameson's might be necessary for the experience.

You know, this is a problem with any movement - the people on the fringes get more attention and become the public face of that movement.

especially when attention seeking boneheads give them free publicity.

The site is exploitative of Reeve's memory. In very poor taste.
