MP3 4U.com is like a Metafilter for free, legal MP3s. Looks like it's been around a while, but never caught on.

This looks to be part of MP3 Jackpot, which has been around for a while offering downloads for all kinds of indie acts. I know I got my first Walkmen track from them.
