Spoilage

Spoilage Greg Palast has an interesting article in Tom Paine claiming that Kerry has won Ohio and New Mexico. Has anyone else heard of this?

247k "outstanding" votes, if you count spoiled votes, which no one does.
136k current lead by Bush.

So for Kerry to lead, the outstanding votes have to break 191k to 55k.

Good luck with that.

So, dhoyt -- do you actually have anything to say about the article? Or about the fact that Ohio vote spoilage is overwhelmingly Democratic? Or are you just interested in snarking on irrelevant crap?

As for what will or could come of this: Without a closely scrutinized process, all of this is "left media wanking" -- it has as much force as a light breeze, and serves nothing so much as to provoke those snickers. Unless, of course, some of the elections officials turn out to have principle and backbone. Not likely, since the Republicans have been working pretty hard to screen folks like that out of their pool of senior operatives for several years, now.

You know what -- I'm right in there with the Bush haters and all, but this isn't going to do anybody any good. Take off the tinfoil hat and the Kerry-Edwards button and move on.

it's funny how our resident snickering right-wingers are usually silent in threads about child rapes at Abu Ghraib, etc.
but they suddendly rear they Allah-hating heads in all the, ahem, right threads

This Palast guy... he vibrates? I sure hope he does, considering how often he shows up here.

I don't think it would be good for Kerry to try to take office with a substantial popular minority. Gore was savaged in the media for having the gall to demand a recount when he had more votes.

Unless the spoilage adds up to many millions of votes and a very different outcome, it's not worth pursuing. That can so easily be spun as trying to steal the election -- the margin is clear enough.

But we have to keep on these issues if we want our government to have any kind of legitimacy in the world (again, in the distant future, I mean).

Or are you just interested in snarking on irrelevant crap?

You summed up the article better than I could've.

Perhaps Palast and all the people who think this election was "stolen", too, can go down to the Burnside Bridge in Portland and shake some puppets and have a big ol' Parade of Irrelevancy.

Bush won. I wish he hadn't, but he has. Stop living up to the hyperbolic-crybaby stereotype and do something to better the Democratic party for the future.

On preview: Yes, matteo, as I've said a thousand times--I despise Allah and enjoy Iraqi child rape. And I'm a "right-winger". Enjoy life in cartoonland.
