Repairing your Aglets. Are your aglets frayed or peeling, or simply discolored and unsightly? Have you looked for a source of fresh, user-friendly aglets and come up empty? Do all of your friends have snappy, crisp aglets that put yours to shame? You can break the chain of aglet neglect and decay.

I do believe I first ran across this word as a question on a street "gameshow" (probably a first in reality TV) from the 80's which took place in and about the Eaton's Mall in downtown Kitchener, Ontario. I think the gameshow was called "Question why?". I could be wrong. Most contestants on the show would run into the bookstores at the mall trying to look up the answers before the time ran out. Prizes were about $100. :-)

Ahh, memories.

Originally this was going to be an ask.mefi question, then I came across this page. It's actually really useful. And I love the word "aglet."

Just to confuse matters, there's also a well known mobile agent library called "Aglets". It's mostly of historical interest now, being a whole seven years old.

A little dot of hot glue on the end of an aglet-less shoeace works a power of good.

A quick winding of thread dipped into regular white glue works well in place of a missing aglet, as well.
