Hope on the horizon?

Today is world AIDS day, and two days ago a joint French/Brazilian project has had some starling success in creating a vaccine that shows promise in stemming the epidemic which has killed 20 million since 1981. Whether you realize it or not, chances are you know somebody who is HIV+, so please take some time today to remember the suffering and fallen...and remember to practice safe sex. Also: AIDS blogs. (Second link via POE News)
We're already have an AIDS day post, and what's worse is that it even starts with the very same words.

Hey, you're right. I suppose I get the dunce cap for this one. I'll wear it with pride. Delete away, math. Although in my defense I might add that my post has lots more links that cover a broader range of topics. But hey, us noobs are such a silly and useless group anyway, right?

OK, I'm usually not one to verbally castrate a n00b, but...
HIS NAME IS NOT MATH OWIE. IT'S MATT. MATT.

Hey, I've seen non-newbs use "math" as an abbreviation for "mat h", an abbreviation itself for "mathowie", an abbreviation for "Matt Haughey". And no, I didn't just click on his profile, I've been aware of it for some time. Some of us are just fond of shorthand every once in a while.
I've been around for longer than you might think.
And as long as we're being technical, I believe your comment would qualify as an attempted textual castration, because despite how much boldface you might use I still can't actually hear you.

I am of course moved as so many by the devestation heaped upohe world by AIDS, but I see so little being said about how to prevent it and most time devoted to dealing with it...Why so much of it in Africa and now China and in India? ok. Education needed. But there is rampant promiscutiy too, and education seems not at all effective thus far. And to make matters worse, the US has long been opposed to handing out rubbers or making them avaiable...it is once again our crazed religious values that instead say: Just Say No--the answer to all problems, except going to war.

You have to turn on the text-to-speech feature first. I sound just like a robot.
And sorry for the derail, everyone.
