Make your own Snowflake

Every holiday seaon, some little web outfit puts together a really cool flash app. Make-a-Flake is that app. Here's my stab at a pirate themed snowflake (note the anchors, which was an accident).

From now until Xmas, I will only call out people using the MeTa flake.

My solemn vow.

mmm, purdy flakes.

crash, I find your call-out flakes offensive. You'll be hearing from lookandfeel flake policy enforcement, mark my words.

Ooo! Ooo! This means I can repost Sober Santa!

This is awesome fun. Can't believe it's never been posted here. I don't know about your pirate theme, though, Matt: yours looks like an agressive phallus closing in on mini-dolphins and hammer-headed mice. But that might be me...

mathowie pwned. What's best is that the URL matches.

Heh. Already gettin' distracted and the kid ain't even born yet!

Oh man, I missed my chance to make the obligatory "I hate these newbies and their double posts" joke. Can I have a do-over?

Poop! I had thought about posting this but was worried about doubling up! Worth revisiting, though!

I also recommend SnowDays, by PopularFront, which has a slightly different "cut" feature. I like the flakes I've made there more than those I've made at Make-A-Flake, but I haven't yet figured out how to download them.

I've posted two of my flake efforts in a snow-themed entry on my blog, along with some other flake-making links.

Finally, what fun it is to combine the toys in photoshop with a Make-A-Flake JPEG!

I found out it was posted before I posted it, but it was almost two years ago and it wasn't even posted during xmas. I think it makes a fine repost.

They want help keeping the snowflakes clean? and it's sponsored by Jockey--the classic white-bread purveyor of repressed eroticism for commercial gain?

Exhibit A
Exhibit B (I like the library theme--very intellectual)

Nobody sexes up the Sunday paper like Jockey.

I can't get this to work. Is there a key you have to hold down while moving the scissors to get them to cut, or something?

I never would have made the offensive snowflake until they pointed out that offensive snowflakes could be made.

I'd bet money that at any given time at least 5% of users are trying to build a goatse snowflake.

not offensive

interrobang, you have to start on an edge and click, then click inside the wedge to create a vector line. Click around some more to make a shape. Once you return to the edge and click again it cuts out the shape you made.

I tripped across the snowflake site in my pre-MeFite days. The earliest snowflakes are dated January 03, so the site has been around a while. I notice there are several versions of Elf Bowling now.

i love that site, double posting it is cool. it should be standard every winter. here's a couple more of my fave snowy sites:

» Snowglobe pick it up and shake it, also use the zoom in feature 'cause it's funnier up close
» Snowball Fight I can't get past level 3 so I find this one somewhat irritating
