Unproduced Screenplays "The Writers Guild of America registers approximately 30,000 screenplays every year, most of which never make it anywhere near the silver screen. Some of these are by "big name" writers like James Cameron and The Wachowski Brothers." Presented here for your reading pleasure are: "Edward Ford" by Lem Dobbs, "One Saliva Bubble" by David Lynch & Mark Frost, "Red, White, Black, and Blue" by Andrew Kevin Walker, "Carnivore" by The Wachowski Brothers, "Alien 3" by David Twohy, "A Crowded Room" by James Cameron, and "I Am Legend" by Mark Protosevic.

(note: the link to "Avatar" didn't work for me so I didn't include it in the list)

Well, to be fair, it's not an encore showing. More like a remake.

these have been online for quite a few years now in screenplay sites like script-o-rama et al, it's pretty old work (Dobb's is from the 70's). "Edward Ford" is very good, Dobbs built a career on that unproduced screenplay (and now, after Ed Wood, nobody will make it anymore, ever). One Saliva Bubble I'd love to see produced, it's very funny in a Lynch way (like Ronnie Rocket), but it's way too weird to ever get financing, I think. if you look around there's also a William Gibson draft of Alien 3 that wasn't produced

I wasn't positive how long it had been online. My bad. Whupps.

This meant kindly - always remember to run a search first.
A search of 'Unproduced Screenplays' would have given you the tip-off.

Actually, I did something like that but simply didn't catch it. You win some and you lose some. That's life.

Never mind. You're not getting a snarky pile-on by the look of things (which is only a good thing). Say three 'Hail Marys' and we'll say no more about it...

Gyan, why does your link go to photos.metafilter.com?

[A non-snarky pile-on]

Such situations are when I wish that we had k5's categorical commenting system --> editorial and topical. Editorial refers to matters about the post (double posting, excessive length..etc) and topical refers to content presented by, and linked to, in the post. Default visibility should be 'Topical only' for logged-in users and visitors unable to view editorial posts.

[/pile-on]

CunningLinguist, I just selected 'Copy Link location' to the first result of the MeFi Google search. So, beats me.

yeah, CL, google often links you to weird stuff like notalentassclown.metafilter.com or analsluts.metafilter.com

I seem to remember matt explained why in an old MeTa thread

I figure that Mr. James knows that he's famous simply for being famous, at this point. He's been releasing noise and random shite for years as sort of an emperor's new clothes stunt, and getting away with it.

Typical IDM fan: "yeah, it's hyper original blow your mind kind of shit."

Norm: "sounds like static and another song being played backwards over top of it."

Typical IDM fan: "isn't it amazing?!"

IDM is no longer Intelligent, nor has it ever really been Dance Music except by being electronic at the time when anything electronic was labeled "dance music". It rapidly became all about snobbery and I think RDJ delights in bilking the suckers. Well, at least I delight in it... :-)

David Twohy creeps me out. i watched his commentary on the 'Chronicles of Riddick' DVD and he has this introduction that makes me think he's just an animatronic creation.

Ignore the comments from the cheap seats, Miss Lynster. With the exception of the first two words in your post, this is not a double. Only one of the eight scripts on the linked page are in the previous FPP. I, for one, am glad you've linked them--especially the AK Walker one as I'm a fan and haven't read it--and I like to think that if you'd found my previous post you would have linked the page anyway, just with different link text.

Dreamghost, wtf have you done lately? Four links in 2.5 years? Gee, thanks for coming out.

I recently saw The Butterfly Effect on dvd, and learned that it was once deemed one of the most read independent screenplays never to be produced. Then it got produced. I watched it twice and I've determined that it's a good thing it did get produced, but just barely.

Oftentimes there's a reason why scripts don't get produced. That reason may be politics, or economics, but more often than not, the script just isn't that good.

Oh, and there's also a reason why some people don't post MeFi FPP's anymore, as well as why more people should think twice.
