Lame.

I seem to be at a loss here-how does Barbara Boxer's questioning of Condi Rice and Ohio's presidential election equate with Republican spin about Social Security? Talk about contrary opinions if you wish, but talk about them in the appropriate forum. This didn't work unless you're trying to show us why the prez isn't paying attention to things that don't involve his base supporters. In that case, you did fine.

You and the majority of America.

Well, given that this is clearly a jab at the earlier Barbara Boxer post, I'm assuming that it's at least a bit tongue-in-cheek.

If S@L's intention was to sarcastically point out that there's still a lot of FPPs that are basically just liberal cheer-leading--with just a bunch of links to either like-minded sites, or to news sites quoting like-minded pundits--then, yes, this is a lame FPP, but that lameness becomes kind of the point. (Maybe better raised in MeTa, but still.)

If this really was a sincere "No...YOU suck!" kinda post, then it's _lame_, and should be deleted before I even get to "Preview".

PP and Steve, puttin' us flamin' liberals in our gosh-darn places. Kind of like Steve and Gary.

Meanwhile, Rome continued to burn.

/on preview: I might have screwed up these links to dailykos and juancole. My apologies.

If you're gonna make a point, at least make it with something that is INDEED THE BEST OF THE WEB, to coin a phrase.

I guess I don't understand your point. Can you expand a little and tell us what that might be?

Thanks.

You can't take a bunch of people on the internet who have contrary opinions, *gasp*, discussing their opinions?

If you feel that way, try discussing your opinions. Rather than discussing the issue, like most Republicans, you have chosen an in-your-face touchdown dance.

For starters, Slate has an interesting piece here. However, you have not chosen to link to any such page or made your thread conducive to discussion which leads me to my first point.

It's unclear to me how urgent Social Security reform is. But I salute you, S@L for daring to post this on Mefi.

Please Steve doesn't get a salute for giving most people here the Bronx Salute. Leave that, and the roids rages, to your boy Arnie.

Among the practice of mass advertisers the one of plastering advertsing everywhere, to the point it becomes annoying for few and the truth for others.

I think one of the lasting legacies of the Bush administration will be their technique of repitition as truth. I think it will be studied for years to come by political scientists. It's really quite impressive, as it is sinister.

But I salute you, S@L for daring to post this on Mefi.

Indeed, Steve is one of the fiercest warriors in this, our battle against liberalism in all it's nefarious forms. Liberal heads rise like those of the Hydra, yet S@L has bravely fired a truthful salvo of cool, placid rationality directly into the Cyclopean Eye of the Beast. A brave and shapely warrior is our Steve, with the sand in the sack to ignore all posting guidelines and stand up for all right-thinking peoples.

I salute you as well, Steve. I salute you as well.

My guess, bardic wanted to get the comments posted before Matt deletes this ridiculous post.

But hey, big points for making your point, S@L. And no, I'm not wasting my one post a week to MeTa on your trash.

It's funny that the persecuted right on this site reacts so childishly when they feel they've been prodded. If you think you're view isn't represented, by all means put a legitimate post together about it. People may or may not react well, but take a shot. But this childish tit for tat response does the community a disservice and makes you look like a punk kid.

Grow up.

xmutuex, "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." - Joseph Goebbels

I guess it's not surprising that Bush is ready to grab the "third rail of politics" with both hands. After all, he has lots of experience with another kind of rail, the white kind.

I didn't know some of this information, but as a response to the Boxer post, it's meaningless.

Doesn't (overly simplified for impact) "What about our money?" seem like classic misdirection when juxtaposed with "What about your role in a hasty war that shaped the future of terrorism, destroyed America's international image, and claimed the lives of thousands of innocents?"?

If you want to answer the Boxer post, answer it with any number of the possible justifications for the problems she cites.

I'm pretty sure that Steve didn't post this thinking "This post is awesome!" It reads more like a little jab at the Boxer orgiasts who are gleefully embracing the latest episode of newsfilter/agendafilter/circlejerkfilter.

In other words, he knows it sucks. And that's the point.

And lastly, don't troll (quick definition: posting purposely inflammatory things for the sole purpose of baiting others to argue the points until blue in the face - basically people do this for kicks, to destroy conversations and communites, for the hell of it) ... Failure to follow these guidelines may result in your posts being deleted, your posting rights revoked, or your account banned. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Giving the average person the ability to invest a portion of their social security fund is a disaster waiting to happen. The market, by definition, is not secure. What do we do with all the workers who invest poorly, lose their retirement funds and then cannot afford the bare necessities of life? History seems to suggest that we are not a society that is friendly to the homeless and hungry - we tend to blame them for their condition rather than trying to give them a hand.

I guess my point is is that there is nothing in these links that convinces me that the President's plan would, in the long term, provide the kind of safety net that social security is supposed to provide. This program basically removes the word "security" from social security, IMO.

Steve, you have insulted another user, failed to add significant content, and been snarky in your own thread.

You are a troll. You've got nothing to add, no information, no arguments, nothing but snark. As if that was worthy of consideration. No wonder this is a liberal haven. The right has nothing to say. Nothing at all. All they have is snark.

Go away. Piss in someone elses pool.
