Shooting people is fun! (Same guy who said "a military solution is not going to be the solution [in Fallujah] unless everything else fails.")

Oy vey..

These are soldiers people.. We have made them this way.. On purpose..

They are supposed to be unthinking, cold, heartless killing machines. They are supposed to shoot to kill, they are supposed to hate the enemy, to have no respect for him, to shit where he sleeps.

We make these soldiers and its our responsibility to keep them bottled up. To use them as a threat. There is a reason it's called the the dogs of war.

And it's then our responsibility to keep them bottled up, like the snarling pit bull at that the impound yard, they represent what should happen when you break in with intent to steal.

We made them this way on purpose, and its our responsibility to use them wisely.

Blame the people who set the pit bull lose on the children on the playground, not the pit bull.

Raise your hands if you didn't see this on ALL THE NEWS SITE ON THE INTERNETS already!

But he's right. Shooting people is freaking awesome. I shot three people on the way home from work today. I feel much better for it, and look forward to wanton shooting tomorrow.

I recommend you all try it.

He didn't say "shooting people is fun", he said "shooting SOME people is fun." You know what? He's right. It's a well known and established fact that some soldiers enjoy combat. It's a simple fact. And I bet if you gave me a rifle and showed me Osama bin Laden, I'd shoot the man until my clip was empty and I'd sleep just fine.

Context is important.

I won't blame, I'll just diagnose the problem. The soldiers don't get a pass. They're part of the culture of unethical violence.

I disagree with the whole philosophy that soldiers need to be trained to be vicious and unethical. Why would we want soldiers who abandon their decency and personal ethical judgement? What good are they to anyone?

Military culture is a sick culture. It's a death-cult. Merely cultivating that bad vibe means it's going to get unleashed at some point in the future, because it pollutes the civilian society as well. Our prisons and our military are bringing fear, pain and confusion to new generations.

Also, this is exactly why the framers of the constitution saw fit (and so rightly so) to put a civilian government in charge of the military. Why it's supposed to be illegal to use the military to police the people.

They are trained to have no conscience, to wage war. To do terrible but necessary things when other people wish to do terrible things to us.

Blame the people who trained them to prosecute war and then sent them to be prison guards and traffic directors and policeman.
