Annoying.

Seriously, it's cool, but just tell me what to do.

No, it's pretty good. I found it a few days ago, and it doesn't take that long. It does, however, break a lot of conventions (some are pretty cheap), so "think different." (I'm sure there's a w/t out there by now ...)

It does take a lot of tries to get everything just right... it's like a stick-man version of Myst.

except myst does not depend on timing at all.

This is good.

Eh. Once I got the little guy stuck in the cannon there was nothing, and I mean nothing, I could do to proceed. Charmingly frustrating is one thing, but it seemed to become an excercise in pointlessness.

Nice look, though. Perfect for someone else to play and solve.

soyjoy, if you get stuck it means you did something wrong along the way, and need to start over...

<SPOILER>
1. Open all windows, click sign so arrow points right.
2. Open hatch (above yellow arrow) then click arrow so guy pops out.
3. Fire round at bridge (click guy).
4. Rotate barrel up (click machine) then fire. As it hits the bell, click spike thing just below.
5. Rotate barrel and fire at bridge. Each time, click the bridge a moment before and it will ricochet out of the way.
6. Click lightbulb a few times. Guy will break it.
7. Fire at bridge and let it fly. It will bounce in to guy near light, and he will open the door.
8. Click guy at machine. He will be loaded as a round. Click yellow arrow for new guy. Fire guy at bell.
9. Click guy at bell and he will move tower. Then click spike thing, and then bell until it drops.
10. Click door at lower left, then right when guy who comes out enters stone entryway, click guy down below.

whew! just did it. So is the lightbulb useless or what?

before the spoiler.

It might require some more precise timing on #10. The "dog" is supposed to get crushed by the concrete slab.
posted by mystyk at 12:42 PM on February 11, 2005

Leave the middle window closed to ease the timing. This way the guy who runs into the room waits until you need him.

Exactly. See last sentence of my post.

I can't click the door in step 10. :(
posted by Four Flavors at 2:41 PM on February 11, 2005

The door opens when the guy inside hears the bell. The window has to be open when you hit the bell with the first rock. Then in step 10 you can click on that door and he'll come out.

By the way, thanks for the neat link.

This is a genre of game I love. (See also: Grow.) Does it have a name?

Too arbitrary to be fun.

I really like this genre of game as well. My big complaint is when they drift more toward arcade games, i.e. ones that require timing, it becomes very difficult to play them on my laptop using my touchpad. For example, launching the explosive balls and hitting the bridge quickly enough is next to impossible.

I like the genre fine, but this game reminds me of those lab experiments in college that I'd try over and over and over and over again and never get quite right.

I did it!
Thanks for the spoiler mystyk. I couldn't have done it without you!

*spoiler*

I've tried to launch the rock with the spike like, 150 times, and only been able to do it once (the first time, when I wasn't even trying). This is really starting to frustrate me...

muddgirl: you don't have to; there's another way. Try mystyk's method above; it takes longer, but requires less expertise.
