In a recent broadcast on PBS archived here 4 popular bloggers, Ana Marie Cox of Wonkette, Andrew Sullivan, Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit, and Joe Trippi had a pretty interesting session with veteran interviewer Charlie Rose. Three tiny but complete QuickTime segments...

Does anyone outside the Washington Gossip Circlejerk actually read Wonkette?

Oh, look, the Employees Of The Month got invited to sit at the manager's table! Be still my heart!

Ignore the haters. Interesting post, thanks.

Apparently, according to Truth Laid Bear , Wonkette is getting 70,000 visits a day - right up there in the top 10 blogs?!

It seems that Bloggers are the flavor of the week...

This was cited on Alicia's blog :

Tahoe Daily Tribune

So even the country's local media are front-paging the power of bloggers. When one part of the reporting community is the story of the rest of the other part, you really have to stop to wonder?!

If it wasn't for the presence of Ana Marie Cox, I wouldn't have bothered with this post at all. She's been one of the smartest and most honest commentators on the Web since her days editing Suck.com. Anyone who can't see that is demonstrating a stunning lack of discernment.

Thanks for this one, indices.

The internets do crazy tings, no?

This 'blog' things is really taking off!

I used to love Wonkette, but it's become relatively one-note. It's still the best place for press-conference blogging and weird DC gossip, though.

Nice of PBS not to include any bloggers who might actually try to call either Reynolds or Sully out on their idiocy.

Last time an NPR station did that, staging a little surprise fight between sully and atrios, all sullivan could come up with was that Atrios was bad bad bad for using a pseudonym.

Yes, I guarded it with a gun. I don't mind you attacking what I say, but try to make sense.

Ana has a great poke at Glenn Reynolds around 1:30 into the second clip:

Andrew was talking about this, what blogs allow you to do is you don't have to write the whole thing or to express an opinion [turns to Glenn], and I'd say Glenn is the master of the "Heh," the "Indeed," the "Read the whole thing." I wanted to start, actually, a blog celebrating Glenn called readthewholething.com, which is basically the most common phrase on your Web site..."

Now *that's* comedy.

kinda funny that Sullivan (or Power Bottom as his ads read) hasn't commented on the Guckert thing at all.

Not funny at all. Sullivan's a pretty spineless twit. I wouldn't expect him to speak out, of any of them.

Well, I suspect that given the response to his own scandal in the past (in which he was outed having a personal ad for barebacking), his response would be "It's none of your business."

I couldn't watch this show all the way through. Four guests all of whom like to talk all the time overwhelmed Charlie Rose and his one word per breath speaking style. He should have booked, say, Cox and Reynolds and that might have worked but instead everyone was fighting to get the next sentence out. Boring.
