Consider the Onza

The lion shall lay down with the lamb. But first, it shall lay down with the tiger, the leopard, and the jaguar. And then smaller cats will lay down with different smaller cats, and then there are those gazelles and bears that were always hard enough to tell apart anyway, well, now we can't seem to keep them apart. Long live the anomalous felids!

Insert Napoleon Dynamite reference here.

Also, "pumapard" is an incredible word.

Great post, breezeway!

(By the way, domestic cat lovers definitely need to also check out the messybeast.com link from the anomalous felids page.)

Aww...I was expecting some sort of giant, horned behemoth...

Crap! King Ghidorah disappeared! Maybe Ultraman tossed him off the internet:

Maybe Ultraman should toss me off the internet, too. I hardly make any sense as it is.

The Georgia Mystery Cat (northeast Georgia, USA) observed half a mile from the confluence of the Hudson River and Broad River in 2004 is described as resembling a very large domestic cat with the face and ears of a bobcat, but an extremely long tail (bobcats have bobbed tails, but pantherine cats have rounded ears). It has been heard screaming and eye-witnessed describe it as a 2.5-3 ft tall and 4-5.5 ft long, including its tail. It has been captured on video, but not identified.

Hmmm... that is *exactly* where I live. The Broad River is my farm's back boundary, and I'm about a half-mile upriver from the confluence. Maybe that's what's been eating my chickens. I've chased off a beautiful red fox that matches the above description on many occasions (sometimes with a chicken in his mouth) -- I wonder if that's what they filmed.

Thanks, beagle. Bad grammar ruins everything.

Unfortunately, many hybrid big cats suffer from congenital immune deficiencies.

Impossible Creatures.

Some day, I'm going to publish my thesis that there's a video game for everything.

Since I just got to play with some real lion and tiger cubs last weekend (held the smallest lion cubs!), I am less fascinated by the unusual cats than I would have been a week ago. Lion cubs are very comfortable a long time, but the tigers get too energetic (wishing to hunt or play rough) too soon.
