I guess this is as good a thread as any: does anybody know the name of the city in the desert in South America that is such an ecological marvel? I think it's pacifist too. Anybody?

South America? Pacifist?
Already been over-run I bet.

I knew of a family that was trying to move to someplace in S. America that was supposedly the only safe haven in case of a nuclear attack, but that was back in the early 80's.. is there a place?

e vero,
mi dio.......Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita
Mi ritrovai per una selva oscura,
Che la diritta via era smarrita.

What every Italian needs to remember before any spiritual journey.

What do the locals think of all this? What's the deal? Were they consulted or just bought out?

YAY LIRP! That's it! Thanks a bunch. I thought I had seen it on MeFi but I couldn't even guess at how to run a search that would find the post.
