The fellow at Top Secret Recipes reverse engineered four of his soups and also conducted a brief interview with Al Yeganeh: Cream of Potato, Chicken Chili, Mulligatawny, and Crab Bisque.

tpoh is right--he's years and years too late. Daily Soup, Hale & Hearty, and every sandwich place (chain or not) and deli has a variety of soups.

What haqspan said. If you're going to judge him and his soup based on a dumb TV caricature and/or the fact that it costs more than the crap you can get at your corner deli, so much the worse for you, so much the more soup for those of us with taste buds. (I'll spare you my full Al Yeganeh rant.) But I do find it depressing that he's succumbed to the franchising temptation; the quality can't possibly be maintained that way, and I suppose it's only a matter of time before he sells the whole thing to some international megalocorp and retires to make ambrosia for a few lucky friends and family members. Ah well.

If he can command $10 for an eight-ounce bowl o' soup, more power to him. But I let myself get seduced into blowing over $11 on a Reuben once, and while it was pretty good, high prices tend to make me think twice about being a repeat customer, no matter how good the eatery's reputation is.

In Milwaukee, one of the members of the Soupmacht started a restaurant called soup bros. that's supposed to be pretty good.
