Oh, thanks!

*tosses salad down the disposal, goes out for a Whataburger, orders in a pizza*

What? Lost and Alias have finales tonight!

The best hamburger in NYC is still the bistro burger .

And if anyone ever has any reason to go to Port Jervis, NY (there's really no other reason), the meany burger at Arlene and Tom's Diner is still the best burger in the entire universe.

Paul's on 2nd avenue near St.Marks might disagree with you.

that hamburgertoday site gives a glowing review to Chelsea's POP burger. I work across the street from the POP burger. Let me be very clear about something: In order to get enough burger from them to equal one actual burger anywhere else, you need to order two 2-burger sets. That will cost you ten (10) dollars. They are delicious burgers, but you can get more, better and cheaper elsewhere.

Also Zorba's here in Astoria makes an excellent Greek Burger (burger with a big lump of crumbled feta), if you wanna cross the bridge, and Fatty's Cafe on Ditmars & Crescent has the "Yard Burger" rubbed in jerk spices, served with cheddar and anejo-rum ketchup.

Pauls is worth visiting for the vat-o-pickles, but the burgers are second rate, whatever their obnoxious sign says.

I love Fatty's!
Tis indeed a mighty burger.

They make an estimable mojito as well. I passed the bartender on my way to Newtown Cleaners just a couple hours ago and he gave me a big holla.

jonmc - after the NYC hamburger thread in AskMe, I actually made of point to going to Paul's after your glowing review.

You were quite right.

I thought the zipcode in my profile would've been a bigger tipoff, but who am I to deny my love for the Astoria Accordion Guy?

Strangely looping back to the topic: Adam Kuban, of both of the blogs in the original post, is often up in our neck of the woods, although not for pizza or burgers. The poor guy told me a week or two ago that he had to go out and buy a bike to work off some of the weight he gained from all the eating for both blogs.

Fucking kick-ass sites, even if they aren't quite in my neck of the woods. So happy to go to In-n-Out tomorrow before seeing Serenity.

Anyone remember Shakespeare Burger co. on Macdougal street? The best place to get a burger in Greenwich village in the '80s. Man, I wish I had a time machine...

I've never eaten at Mo' Better Meaty Meat Burger, but I wish I had.

Technically, what I get when I go to In-N-Out isn't a hamburger but a "grilled cheese" with grilled onions. But, as mentioned on the burger site, "The veggies are not only fresh, they taste it, bursting in your mouth with crispness and flavor." Better than BK or McD's veggie burgers, IMHO, and for less.

Speaking of In-n-Out, the site links to a pretty cool article listing all of the In-n-Out Secret Menu items with descriptions and pictures.

There's even a printable PDF. I'm using mine as a checklist.

Man...somebody in the midwest oughtta get on this and make a Chicago-centric version. Why let all the NYC hamburgerhipsters have all the fun?

40 Watt: You'll be happy to know we've recruited someone to write some reviews for Chicago burger joints. If you have any recommendations, drop'em here and we'll try our best to hit'em up.

Paul's is good, but Corner Bistro is better.

Anyone know what the deal is with the "Better Burger" stores that seem to be popping up in several locations around NYC?

Also - I went to Del Friscos for lunch yesterday and they had a Kobe beefburger on the menu. I felt like ordering it with a 30 year old Macallan Scotch & Coke.

What could possibly be the point of grinding up Kobe beef?

At least the filet mignon was good.

capndesign:

SWEET.

I'll see what I can do to wrangle up some suggestions.

Better Burger: It's an attempt to make healthy burgers, which, as you'd guess, is a dumb idea. I've only been once and it was about a year ago, but the burger was boring. The only reason I finished it was because I was hungry and I paid almost $9 for my "value" meal.

It's probably good for really health-conscious people who are dying for a burger but aren't willing to give up their diets.
