Disney goatse? I dare you to see this if you know what goatse is and not have the image of Mickey's colon telling time...[Completely SFW] via boingboing

What, so Anal Dash wore a goatse shirt in the NYT and now the blogosphere is in love with the gaping anus?

(And when did reblogging BoingBoing become acceptible on the front page?)

Actually, keswick (and others) - I apologize. My previous FPPs were links from other sites that I canvass regularly, with no complaint. I saw this Mickey clock, did a spit take, and thought others might enjoy some Friday (non-flash) fun. On reflection, I realize that bb is probably much more common for mefites to visit than other sites (and I now seem to recall is mentioned specifically in FAQ). It won't happen again.

And, for your first point, when has the blogosphere ever not been in love with the gaping anus?

When its funny. This is funny.

Lighten up, keswick.

Many people don't read boingboing, though I'm sure it's a fine site.

This was less funny than deeply disturbing. I think I would like to wash my mind now, please.

I love that there is a Wikipedia page for Goatse.

Someday I hope to make it that big!

If you look close enough, you can see Dale in there...

jb, the funniest things often are deeply disturbing, either laugh or cry, its up to you.

That Wikipedia page rules. Someone spent some serious time on that!

This one remains my favorite though...

Although I'm sure that Goetze's Candy don't appreciate the explicit linking of goatse to their Caramel Creams' logo.

Seeing Goatse in places is like seeing the Virgin Madonna, its bullshit image association. And its even more annoying because the original goatse image is so disgusting.

I wish the whole goatse meme would go away. It's stupid.

brilliant! thanks birdsquared , it made me laugh.

Seeing Goatse in places is unlike seeing the Virgin Madonna, because it's amusing bullshit image association. And its even more amusing because the original goatse image is so disgusting.

I wish the whole goatse meme would stay right where it is. It's amusing.

Who did this and WHY? Oh GOD!! WHY!?!

Great link, just hilarious. Just because it was posted somewhere else on the web doesn't mean you can't post it here. MeFi is "Best of the Web" after all.
posted by BackwardsHatClub at 4:35 AM on June 4, 2005

BackwardsHatClub, I've been in MeFi off and on for years and wouldn't be so presumptive myself at this point to think I actually know what MeFi is, but I don't think "Best of the Web" suitably sums it up. It's a wee bit more complicated than that.

McBain, you're trapped in phases three and four and must evolve forward so that you can come to true psychological acceptance of the goatse. I recommend a twelve-step program.

from Wikipedia: "a man wearing a gold ring on his left hand..."

Y'know, I've never noticed that before. Wow.

"...Below his gaping anus, the man's dangling penis and testicles are visible."

Really? The guy had a penis? Never noticed that before either. Why? I was too busy averting my gaze in reaction to the tremendously disgusting bunghole that has scarred my retinas for life to notice the guy's penis. I find people seeing the Virgin Madonna, crucifixes and the pompadour of Elvis in everything from fungi growing in an overpass to tortillas or muffins about as amusing as seeing goatse in the covers of Time Magazine.

Umm, bad nes for you, birdsquared - the clock is on the front of mickey (check the ears), not the back. Sorry, but I'm with McBain on this one.

Don't know about BS but yes, alike in two ways: it's a simple imaginative connection with something people are interested in, and more interestingly a reinforcement of their personal ideas about reality, about who they think we are.

And its even more annoying because the original goatse image is so disgusting.

Yes it seems to get a lot of attention for such a simple thing but people have been laughing at bathroom and sex jokes since forever. This one offers both.

I wish the whole goatse meme would go away. It's stupid.

Yes, especially stupid and part of it's staying power no doubt.

Do you wish the meme would go away or the thing it represents would go away? The former will eventually, the latter won't.

No way man, I'm Goatseer for life. I have the tattoo.

Oh and while we're punning on people's names, why not make it Anal Gash?

The difference between seeing goatse on the cover of TIME and seeing the Virgin Mary in a dinner roll is that the cover of TIME is designed by people. People who have almost certainly seen goatse, because, you know, it's on the Internet thingy, and they have the Internet on computers these days. Thus there is the distinct possibility that in many cases the resemblance of other works to goatse is intentional, and the idea of a TIME cover artist slipping something like that past the editors is, I have to admit, fucking hilarious. The Mickey clock, not so much.

On second thought, I think Disney is just taking the Mickey.

I'm also with McBain on this one. Memes come and go and this is a stupid one. I hope its at the height of hysteria so that we can now see its decline.

If I ever got a chance to wear something controversial in a NY Times photo, I'd hope it'd be something like a Zapatista T-shirt, or some sort of meme, that though also tired, at least has real substance. Seeking solidarity around a picture of a gaping anus, is at first funny, and then, well, really pathetic.

If you're going to make an injoke, make a joke out of something people have died for?

From the Wiki-P:
He has been given many nicknames by various Internet communities, including "The Goatse Guy", "Goatse Man", "Matt", "Narayan", "Cavanah", "Bob Goatse", "Mr G.", "The Goatman", "The Receiver", "Stinger", "Gatasa", "Gman", "Goatsemon", "Goatse", "Gaping Ass Man", "Yam Sthruss", [and] "SeƱor Goatse"

HA! I almost prolapsed my own anus reading that!!

What a great laugh! Thanks for the post!!

Disney saw that McDonald's got away with that single-entendre "I'd Hit It" campaign and figured this was the logical next step. You know, to get the attention of the kids. That's all.
