We are a nation of minorities. And in a nation of minorities, it is important that you don't cherry-pick rights. The Canadian House of Commons passes same sex marriage legislation

Look south, would-be newsfilter posters.

I already flagged it. There was an error when I submitted it and by the time it showed up on the main page, there was another post. Delete away.

Yay! Hopefully a stream of images of happy gay couples tying the knot in Canada will help make it harder for the American theocrats to keep up their blizzards of bullshit about "protecting marriage" from people who love one another.

Oh carmen, don't worry about the technicalities, the point is well taken.

Gay fist raised in the air and singing, " OH CANADA, OH CANADA!!!"

in Liza Minelli voice, ofcourse.

Look and listen north, my fellow Americans.

Thank you, jm. I for one truly appreciate the solidarity. It's really a great, great day for gay and nice straight Canadians.

Good for Canada. My stereotypes of gays was blown out of the water a long time ago so i've backed up gay rights for years, but I know a lot of people who still have the preconcieved notions I once held. How sad.

Monochrome, you are sooo mean! I hang my head in double shame. (Actually no... I'm too happy. But thank goodness this will be deleted and evidence of my atrocious spelling will be, well, lessened, anyway)

"Go north young man" vs. "Same sex Cannucks" (sic)

I do like the genteel camp of #1, but the funky consonance of #2 is quite compelling.

One of the old saws I keep hearing in regards to gay marriage is "It will make things so complicated." as in, force us to resolve this change with many other legal issues. Whether or not that's a disingenuous mask for simple homophobia, having a neighbor break ground ahead of us should be helpful.

Same sex marrage is legal in some US states.

Just thought I would point that out.

If you mean legal as in "Best if used before xx/xx/xx", you are correct.
