A flash-y way to examine front pages

Front pages from around the world in a flash. The amazing Newseum (previously referred to most recently here) now has a flash interface to show 436 front pages from 45 countries.

There are no newspapers in Africa. Only news.

Amazing. But the front pages all seem filled with horrific news, no matter where you are. Amazing and depressing...

When the Newseum was open (they are currently relocating from Rosslyn, VA to downtown Washington), they had each of the papers, larger than life, in a long display, alphabetized by state and country. Now, during construction, they built frames to house some of the papers along the sidewalk at the construction site. Pretty cool if you are in Washington... it's at 4th and Pennslyvania. The best is finding papers that run the same exact picture, or similar headlines (The NY Post and Daily News' recent "Boy, Oh Boy" headline for the Jackson verdict comes to mind).

This addition to their site is great. When will someone fold it into Google Earth?

An immense improvement to their previous, hugely useful site. Thanks for the link.

There are no newspapers in Africa.

No, there appears to be exactly one, Essahafa. Say, it looks like things are swell in Tunisia! (Funny, I could have sworn they had newspapers in, say, Egypt...)

Nice post, thanks.

Roll-over the Northeast and West of the United States papers today (6/29) and then do the same in Texas or "flyover country."

Amazing. Paints a picture of how the newspapers lean politically. A vivid one.

This is crazy-good stuff. So very cool! Thanks for posting!
