Happy Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman) Day

Happy Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman) Day • "PRD was created by the sex-positive group of redheaded friends, the Drunken Redheaded Sluts, as a hilarious way to denounce the 'bum rap' that self-gratification got Paul Reubens, while honoring the man’s erotic curiosity and zany character." The celebration will start with a pub crawl, followed by a Pornographic After-Party to benefit the The Center for Sex and Culture, and climax with a Midnight Mass with Peaches Christ (NSFW).

Does there really have to be a replay of the porn films that got him busted? If you're obsessive and live in a small town like San Francisco, who's to stop you anyway? Criminy.

I've been waiting for the Pee-Wee's Playhouse Special Edition DVDs that have supposedly been in the making for a while. I think they were supposed to come out last March or thereabouts, and now I think they might be slated for Q1 of 2006. Still, though, I hope this isn't one of those things where it's like "Well, the non-SE versions of the set didn't sell well, so we're not gonna release the ones with all the commentaries and stuff", because, um, I didn't _get_ those ones because I was _waiting_ for the ones with the commentaries...

(And for the record, I always thought Pee-Wee got railroaded. I've never understood that -- what the fuck are you _supposed_ to do in a _porno theater_? Appreciate the cinematography? And, jeeez, don't get me started on that bitch reporter who decided to publish that report for no reason other than because she needed a story; gee, it's a good thing that no other news might have been going on that day that actually might have applied to someone to get in the way of ruining a man's career!)

Before pee wee's playhouse was a children's show, it was part of his stand up act and was quite adult oriented. I always thought it was a hilarious bit of subversion to get it marketed to kids. Also he was in Cheech & Chong's next movie where he provided the most excellent of quotes for that old Primus song, "Hamburger Train". Yay pee wee!

went to the peaches christ midnight showing of pee-wee's big adventure last night... it was really fun. i had no idea how many people were into this movie. i'd never seen it before-- liked it a lot, especially the meta-movie at the end. we counted at least 10 people in the audience dressed like pee-wee, including a pirate pee-wee and a zombie pee-wee. i love sf!
