After seeing the Laurie Garrett clip I couldn't say anything but "holy fuck". Not about the AIDS part, but about the national security assessment after.

OK, I don't really want to throw stones--and certainly not at Tlogmer for posting this. Looks like a great event, but I wonder what comes out of it, other than a reinforcement of the attendee's radiant specialness which is bought for $4400 and evaluation of criteria by Ted's board.

I don't say this for myself, but I wonder why someone like Anne Wysocki isn't there. I dunno, maybe she can't afford $4400 on a teacher's salary.

Again, I'm torn--it looks great, but it also looks like a colossal celebrity clusterfuck.

I was at the first TED convention in Toronto... amazing event worth every cent.
