Watching Grass Grow

Watching Grass Grow is an appropriate activity now that the Dog Days of summer are upon us. For those who are watching their grass lawns wilt and turn brown in the hot weather, there's hope that it will recover as pictorially documented on this site.

NO! Destroy all grass. Grass is evil. It is invasive and it is a waste of resources. This guy should have taken the oportunity to plant drought tolerant groundcovers.

I have been slowly replacing my half acre lawn with alternatives. Its slow going but will be worth it in the long run. And non-traditional yards just look better.

And finally, a funny little tale about lawns.

Personally, I loathe lawns, including my own. Next year I'm doing all I can do develop a no-maintenance/low-maintenance front yard using whatever drought-resistant groundcover I can find and decorative rock.

I hate lawnmowing, the water wastage is criminal, fertilizers are killing our soil, and pest control is death.

Given all that, I'm quite happy that my lawn is now finally dead.

Yes, let's talk more about this groundcover. Pour que groundcover. Like stones and rocks and stuff?

I dig my lawn, I get a kick out of maintaining it, but I also hire a local kid to do the mowing work.. o.O :)
