"They're closed"

"They're closed" - After seeing millions of dollars worth of commercials for Amazon.com where they make fun of brick and mortar stores for closing at night, I go to their site today and find...... They're closed. Here's a screen shot in case they open today. Sure, sites go down, but the wording seems a little odd considering....

I thought this always happened in the early morning hours at Amazon.com.

pnevares: What's considered "early morning hours" on the Internet? :)

Yep - Best Buy was down all morning as well. They are still having traffic problems as of this evening. I work for another click n mortar e-retalier and we are quite delighted at the performance of best buy's hardware and setup. You can only really test full capacity on days like this -- we're happy that we were able to handle the influx. It was surprising when amazon went down, but they weren't out for long.

Amazon does this frequently enough. It's never for very long.

My local Best Buy was also unavailable. Several hundred other patrons also could not get service.
