Pandas! "You are watching live images of Mei Xiang, a giant panda, and her newborn cub at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. The cub was born at 3:41 a.m. on Saturday, July 9."

Details here. Warning: make sure you have a high tolerance for cuteness.

"Our cams are at maximum capacity." I can't connect to the cuteness.

Nevermind, it worked the second time. Geez, it's overhwhelming, the cuteness.

Very cute. But what's with the Gitmo-style cell?

Seriously, the cute is out of control. Part of me wishes I were in the panda pen with that giant fluffy panda and the cutest tiny bear ever, and then the other half of me understands that cute giant mama bear would claw me to death in about 30 seconds.

They look delicious!

Cool. See also the San Diego Zoo's panda cam, for occaisional cuteness. (Right now, it's a sacked out mother.) The resident female panda, Bai Yun, gave birth on August 2, which means that the kid is still pretty small and weird looking (and camera elusive), and hasn't yet achieved that level of Mondo Hyper Cuteness that is so vital to fundraising efforts.

Mom is completely zonked, and kiddo appears to have the hiccups. Still cute, though.

It's pretty crazy, that cuteness. Is it their coloring, the squat-buddha-style posture of mom panda? Where does it come from? I am possessed.

And she keeps holding the baby in her arms...er...paws. It's so out of control cute. I'm working on a bizillion design type things today, and can't make myself close the panda cam window. I just have to keep coming back for cute breaks.

Another warning might be the little tiny sounds that come from the website (ie. pandas.) I had this open in the background while contining to do work elsewhere in my office. Suddenly I thought someone was being attacked outside or something. After about five minutes I realized I what was happening.

At first, I was kind of annoyed that it was a black and white feed. But then I realized it probably doesn't make much difference with, you know, pandas. Good Lord, though, watching baby panda kick out his legs as mama groomed him was the most adorable thing I've seen in a long, long time.

The first party of the first panda may sue the second party panda unless that panda was said panda unformentioned panda.

Shouldn't Ron Burgundy be reporting on this?

The pandas keep crashing my browser. Fuck the baby pandas.

Aw, the little guy is sleeping with his legs sticking straight up in the air against his momma's arm. I can't handle this much cuteness.

I'm not sure but the lapping noise was a little disconcerting.

Anything that causes Metafilter to collectively lose its shit over cuteness is a damn good thing in my book.

And also, Squee! Baby Panda!

I've been watching this on and off all day, and there seems to be someone manning the camera, zooming in and out on the baby, etc. What a great job to have...
