Hurricane Katrina, the Card Game

Katrina: The Gathering is the latest great new collectible card game!

I almost don't know how to describe it. A brilliant, concise, very complete, and quite hilarious1 summary of the the political fallout. It just keeps going and going and going. I think I want to play a game of it.
1 - My options are laugh or cry, so.

I love how the Department of Homeland Security card isn't particularly effective without the Proper Paperwork card...and there's no Proper Paperwork card.

Oh, god, I had completely forgotten to look for the Proper Paperwork card by the time I got to the bottom. lol.

Very well done stuff.

Proper Paperwor cards, pirated from Taiwanese MTG card mills will be available over the black market.

I like how Rumsfeld's hands are hovering in the air like he's shooting Force-lightning from his fingertips.

Bravo. I find this darkly uplifting.

Wow, impressive... The picture with the woman holding the signs "god hates America" and "thank god for katrina", is that real?

I was expecting to find this somewhat disrespectful of the people displaced by Katrina, but it's not. It is terribly disrespectful of everyone else, and that's a good thing.

I had a fun time reading the cards. Surprisingly good all-round coverage of the disaster. :p

My only issue? [Nerd mode] most of those would not be white cards in magic[/Nerd mode]

Katrina exposed serious problems in my response capability at all levels. I take responsibility.

Why not? White is the color of fascism or the state at the expense of the individual.

These are hilarious. blacklite, you just made my Thursday. The image of Rumsfeld alone might have done that: pure camp evil, distilled.

Hilarious find, thanks.

Excellent. These are absolutely fantastic.

Satire can be great, as long as it's not "Choose your own adventure" with "You are an african-american crackhead..."

Oh man, that's good stuff.

We should print them out and see if the set is at all playable.

[nerd]

There's not enough land to support a deck with this expansion only, is there?

As much as I had thought it was a real quote, the Pat Roberston card quote is a hoax (warning -- Snopes page with popups.)

As co-author of this endeavor, I'm glad to see that people are enjoying this. More of these cards should be going up later today.

I was expecting to find this somewhat disrespectful of the people displaced by Katrina, but it's not. It is terribly disrespectful of everyone else, and that's a good thing.

To be honest, the whole project was born out of helpless rage as to how this was handled, by virtually everyone, across the board. When it started, all the cards were funny. In the middle, all the cards were kinda grim as the quotes from people in charge got kinda scary. Looking back on it now, what remains is a fairly good geekalicious diary of the episode from an outsider's perspective.

Most of the cards rag on the Republicans, largely because they were the ones in charge. Conservatives will be pleased to know that the left has started to bring the stupid as well, and the cards have become more balanced as a result.

I think it's funny that you guys are obviously know all the latest M:TG (you use 'defender' instead of 'wall', a recent change), but you still use 'banding' which has been gone for ages. And you use 'bands with other', widely (and correctly) known to be the absolutely worst, lamest ability ever. Of course, it appears on 'Bill O'Reilly', so I'm ok with that.

Yes, it is! I have been checking back regularly, and just spotted the Condi card today. Absolutely brilliant. The ultimate geek humor, clever and devastatingly accurate.

Bravo, guys. This is probably the single best Katrina site short of nola.com.
