No list that puts MeFi at #55 is perfect, but Yahoo's 100 Sites for Men includes lots of other goldmines, like an info source for embarassing problems, hangover cures, and other gems like Draw Your Boss. Ladies, don't miss the top 100 Sites for Women, and if anyone's Ball of Paint needs are unfulfilled, you can always check out the Top 100 Weird Sites.

MeFi has no boobies links, we should consider ourselves lucky to have made the list a all!

Where's the "boyzone" tag?

From the men's list:

...if it made us laugh, cry, rub our whiskery chins in thoughtful contemplation, drool or point out stuff to the bloke sitting next to us ...

Whiskery chins? Drool? What is this, a Tim Allen joke?

So do they think that men and women are desperately unable to Google or Yahoo search for sites that cater to their special Internet needs? Which would be...what, exactly?

I would go through the women's list, but since the first page appeared to be mostly sex and shopping, why bother? If I wanted to hang out at iVillage all day, bemoaning my cellulite and leaving politics and current events to those big strong men, I would. eesh.

It's a world of perfect cocktails, cool kids and great shoes. It's a world of health, wealth and motherhood. And it's a world where we can laugh at the feeble-mindedness of our men, while checking out the attributes of a few younger, more finely tuned models.

I'd rather collect bull semen with my bare hands than write copy like that for a living.

The number one site is a t-shirt shop? That's the best site for men on the internet? The whole internet?
posted by londonmark at 7:56 AM on October 31, 2005

Yes londonmark, THE WHOLE ENTIRE INTERNET.

“This is a man’s world, but it wouldn’t be nothing – NOTHING - without a woman...”

So the old song goes, and that seems to sum up the Internet pretty nicely. .

We seem to have projected the values of 1953 neatly on a 21st-century medium! And here I thought that times had changed and I was actually free to live and think outside of strict gender boundaries. Thank God for this list. I never knew I was so interested in handbags, babies, cats, and spas. I've got to get busy catching up!

Wow. I've been wasting all this time seeking knowledge on MeFi when I could have been improving my wardrobe.

Mens List has such links as "Pictures of Trains" (no, thanks) "Send Her Poetry" (no...) "Battles of WWII" (does somebody not have History Channel?) and "Oscar Wilde Quotes" (I'll wait for that to come out on DVD). They forgot to add "List of Yarn Shops in North Dakota"

Hey, thanks for the Yarn link StarFOrce5, I've been looking for some good Yarn stores in North Dakota for weeks!

Men are like this, but women are like THIS.

100 sites for men that won't offend the missus vs 100 sites for women you're worth it.

We have to visit sites that please the women while they do what they want because they are worth it? Granted, they have a rating over there that says "boyfriend friendly", but still, I am more than a little sick of so-called "female empowerment".

And it's a world where we can laugh at the feeble-mindedness of our men, while checking out the attributes of a few younger, more finely tuned models.

Ugh.

Metafilter: Informed debate.
posted by fire&wings at 8:33 AM on October 31, 2005

Both: idle amusments, food, consumerism, me-ism. Meh.

Oh, except for mefi of course... although I dunno, that informed debate tag...

Taking a quick look, I see (predictably) that I am much more interested in the web sites listed as ""for Men" then the sites listed "for Women."

Informed Debate vs. Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream
Do Anything vs. True Glamour
Man's Best Friend vs. Angels
Serial Killers vs. Really Sorry

The wierd 100 trumps both fortunately.

these sites have gotta be the lamest things i've seen in a long time... at least we can rest assured they're geared towards the british market, which is apparently substantially, substantially more stupid than the Americans are.

and now back to cheatzone (but don't tell my girlfriend!!!!!!!!!)

Gee JonasParker, do you not get that most of the women here think the portrayal of men is insulting also? It's not empowerment types that want to see men as nose-picking Neanderthals, it is, strangely enough, anti-empowerment types. Don't blame feminism just because people put a "you go girl!" label on retro bullshit.

Are those my only options? Murakami put it very well (in "Dance Dance Dance"?). It's a lot like shoveling snow.

That paragraph is 100% better than a lot of crap that I have to edit everyday.

These 100 sites kinda suck. I'm not sure whether to hold that against Yahoo or the Brits. I'll blame Yahoo. For now.

I mean really! There are lots of fantastic football sites out there.

When did Yahoo! turn into Ask Men or Cosmo for that matter? All of my Top Sites have panties in the title, except for Metafilter at #42.

Yahoo should give its advertising people a raise. And toss a few bucks to MeFi for helping sell the brand.
