The traditions The traditions and history of puppetry are quite rich, often amusing. there are, quite unsurprisingly, those who truly hate the adorable little things. From fact to fiction and evendeeper investigations. Obligatory pinocchio link.
NSFW, sorry

I think I should point out that the main character in Being John Malkovich is a misunderstood puppeteer. Carry on.

Sorry :) I had the post pretty much made up already. I like Heinlein's novel best for the fiction genre.

Hey thanks for the Wikipedia Pinocchio link, I wrote a large part of it - still needs improvement, the external link is excellent for more in-depth -- but even better, read the book -- it's different from movie versions.

I figured the muppets were a bit too mainstream. What can I say?

I'd like to recommend the puppets of a local artist named Scott Radke.

Well, in fact so is pinoccio. I used puppet as a more general class of animable doll (even to the point of humans, in the fiction link). A marionette is a puppet manipulated by strings. An those are some creepy ones, sciurus.

When you're in Prague, you should go to the National Marionetter Theater and see some Mozart puppet operas. Very worthwhile, as tourist experiences go.
In fact, puppetry and Prague would be a good FPP one of these days...

How could you post this? Today of all days! Don't you know it's a puppet day of mourning?

Also, and I can't find the name of the troupe anywhere, but at Bonnaroo this past summer, My Morning Jacket performed with many enormous, dancing puppets roaming the stage. Pics
