Might be courteous to give a clue as to what we'll be seeing if and when we click that link.

A 4.9 meg wmv ought to be REALLY worth it. And, it's loading very slowly. So, um, what's everyone doing for Thanksgiving?
posted by moonbird at 6:13 PM on November 18, 2005

Sorry Gator, my opps. It's a video of an insane outdoor xmas light show. Whether it's live or edited together, it's quite a sight!

Still loading over here. Or is it? Are you sure you didn't self-link some video of your shirt by mistake?

I have seen this video. It is amusing, but not in proportion to the slowness of the download.

That was actually pretty cool, and hats off to the Canuck who pulled this off. It helps to Coralize the video, but even then it came in rather slow. Don't be discouraged though, read some good FPP advice and post agian.

My girlfriend just said "I feel like the world is a better place because someone did this."

I can feel it! I can feel the cosmos Christmas spirit!

Thanks moonbird. It wasn't a slow download when I first checked it out but I doubt there were many people trying to view it at the same time at that point. I'll check out your FFP link. Thanks for the help!

err.. FPP link rather. (and I'll spellcheck)

Well I thought this was spectacular. Holy crap. What would it take to stage that kind of nonsense? I get the feeling that it would take some professional theater lighting gear or something, but I could be way off. Really, really cool either way.

Baby Jesus would shit if he saw this.

Well, at least there's a peace symbol in the mix. "Peace on Earth" is a pretty Christmasy senitment, or so I've been told.

My Christmas sentiments are more along the lines of "I hope I score some good loot."

Okay, it downloaded, finally. Not bad.

Very impressive.
I'll happily never hear that music again.
Edgar Winter's Frankenstein might work well.

This is very trippy! reminds me of my favorite stoner site: Acidtrip.com. (Dig inside if interested, it's a giant pool of psychedelic stuff)

Main link is dead. Moonbird's Coralize link worked very quickly for me.

Man, I'd frikken hate to be that guy's neighbour.

Great link. Thanks.

You are aware of how this "MetaFilter" device works, no? Especially the part where you tell a lot of people about it?

Seems it was originally posted here and the original link still works?

This is the WORST FPP I've seen in a while.

Actually, this is the best FPP ever.

That music - Transiberian Orchestra, right?

This is the greatest thing I've seen in a very long time.
I'm going to write a Christmas email just so I can include this link.

This guy has to do lighting for a living.

I hate Christmas, I hate Christmas decorations, and I hated this video. Merry Christmas everyone!

I was prepared to hate it and then the blue lights came on and I said, "Ahhhhh!" and I knew that my plans to skip Christmas entirely this year were going straight out the window.

All it takes to do this is a DMX512 network, controller (a computer or specialized console) and a lot of time (old plane arium joke: How many lines of code does it take to turn on a light?) and patience to program the sequence.

From the double post: I'm really interested in browser habits now. If we're missing it the 'first time around' and it's only 13 posts below this one, how are users reading the front page? A wild skim, a random scroll?

I didn't miss it; I read this thread briefly, but the video wouldn't load, so I moved on. The video on the double post loaded quickly.

I can't believe I just wasted five minutes clicking different links trying to get this video.

Would have been better if it had been high quality video.

Impressive acheivement - but not worth watching.
